Even as the ruling approaches, it will not be final, as both the league and the NFL Players Association can appeal it.

Last year, accusations of sexual assault and misconduct surfaced against Watson. A June New York Times report indicated that the player had booked massage appointments with 66 different women over a 17-month period and detailed graphic meetings between Watson and massage therapists.

Back in March, a grand jury dropped Watson’s criminal charges, but he was still the subject of civil lawsuits. Last month, Watson settled 20 of 24 civil lawsuits.

With allegations surrounding Watson, the Browns acquired Watson in a commercial deal with the Houston Texans in exchange for three first-round picks, a 2023 third-round pick, and a 2024 fourth-round pick. In addition, Brown signed a five-year, 230 million contract dollars, fully secured with Watson.

If Watson wastes time due to suspension, team Jacoby Brissett will start. The team also includes Joshua Dobbs on the roster, as well as Josh Rosen, who they signed to a contract this month.
