The San Diego Padres have traded for Juan Soto, Josh Bell, former White Sox manager and current analyst Ozzie Guillen is a fan.
The San Diego Padres made the biggest push into the deadline for the MLB trade as they acquired defensive back Juan Soto and first baseman Josh Bell for a plethora of possibilities.
The details have changed a bit, as Eric Hosmer (who will move from San Diego to Washington in the deal) has a no-trade-to-nationals clause. It can either be removed from or it can be heard for a third team. Either way, it will be the biggest deal in the trade deadline and one of the biggest in the history of the MLB trade deadline.
Former Chicago White Sox manager and current pre- and post-game analyst Ozzie Guillen is a fan of the move.
He put his thoughts on San Diego’s comeback very succinctly on Twitter.
White Sox: Ozzie Guillen considers Padres trade deadline
It’s easy to see why former White Sox boss and current analyst Ozzie Guillen likes what the Padres have done.
As of this post, they have defender Juan Soto and first baseman Josh Bell of the Nationals. They’ve also traded with closest Brewers and four All-Star Josh Hader without giving up any of their best prospects. They also extended the release of bowler Joe Musgrove to a five-year deal for $100 million. And it all happened in the last 24 hours.
Even with the Juan Soto/Josh Bell trade, the Padres could do more before the four-and-a-half hour trade deadline (6pm ET) however, even if that is done, they are clearly the trade deadline winners for all 30. diff yet.
They’ve shown they want to win and with Fernando Tates Jr (probable former White Sox) returning from IL in the near future, Padres will be a force to be reckoned with.
But Ozzie Guillen Still really wish He will be their manager this year in place of Bob Melvin.
