Old Pokemon anime episodes have been hinting at the game’s tricks all along

The Pokemon The animation has been broadcast for over 25 years, showing game areas, tricks, and Pokemon through the eyes of protagonist Ash Ketchum. With a story centered around empathy, teamwork, and discovery, it’s no wonder the show’s continued success among Pokemon fans.

Although the anime follows a different story than the main series of games, there are some basic similarities between the two. Ash and his friends usually travel to the newest area in the game, where they show off the new landscapes of the area and the shapes of the Pokemon. Any new regional Pokémon usually makes some kind of cameo at the show, showcasing fun new creatures in an exciting area. However, it appears that the anime has also been hinting at future game features throughout.

One Pokemon fan, Twitter userActualAero, pointed out some similarities between old anime episodes and current games. Many were surprised to learn how often anime reflects the latest tricks. However, they are beginning to theorize that perhaps the animation and games are more similar than previously thought.

Pokemon Anime – Predicting Game Tricks?

It’s only been a day since August 3rd, Pokemon Presents, which revealed a new trailer for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. Among the flashes of the beautiful rolling fields of Paldea, a particularly interesting revelation appeared – Terastallization. Some Paldean Pokemon are able to take shape, changing its type and the effectiveness of their movement.

Seeing this, a Pokemon fan ActualAero had a realization – it looks strikingly similar to Crystal Onix in the Pokemon anime. Both Pokemon were similar to gems, although Scarlet/Violet took them even further with a type change. If they look further, they discover some luminous similarities:

In the photo, ActualAero has put screenshots of three Pokémon and screenshots corresponding to the anime. Girados Misty (later revealed to be Mega Evolve) on top of Mega Evolved Gyrados from Pokemon XY. Next up, the massive Dragonite floating above the Dragonite Pokemon SwSh’s Gigantamaxed. Finally, an Onix crystal over Pokemon Scarlet/Violet’s Terastallized Sprigatito.

Looking at both ActualAero examples, the results are astounding. It really looks like the Pokemon anime appeared in a gimmick before it was actually implemented. Whether the anime inspired futuristic games or surreptitiously predicted it is a surprising revelation. Chances are, it’s a fun part of the collaboration that unites the world of Pokemon media.

After the discovery, some Pokemon fans joked that the next gimmick would feature an all-pink Pokemon, much like Episode 88 from the anime. Although this pink Pokemon was the result of a region-specific berry, it’s a fun feature to think about. The next game will probably bring back another exciting moment from the anime – but for now, we just have to wait and see.

Pokemon Scarlett/Violet will be released on November 18.
