After TNT Champion Wardlow and Jay Lethal duel to begin AEW’s Battle of the Belts III, it’s time for the AEW Women’s World Championship match between Champion Thunder Rosa and challenger Jimmy Hayter. Hayter will be accompanied to the ring by Dr. Brett Baker, DMD and Rebel, but Rosa got some help as well, as Tony Storm escorted her to the ring. There were many dramatic falls and brutal crashes, and Baker, Rebel, and Storm were all involved at one point or another, but despite the odds, Rosa managed to hold Hayter long enough to win and retain AEW. Women’s World Championship.
Hayter did not let the bell hit before attacking Rosa, causing her to fall off the top of the rope and then hit a series of kicks into the corner. Then Brett Baker got some shots as the referee looked the other way, and Hayter kept the attack coming at breakneck speed. Then Hayter stepped on Rosa while Becker laughed.
Hayter went for some chops and then choked Rosa in the corner before colliding with Rosa with a shoulder interference. Rosa came back with a couple of dropped kicks and Hayter quickly rolled out to regroup. Rosa was met by Hayter’s fist as she headed through the ropes, and Hayter then bumped Rosa into the barrier.
Rosa hit DDT on the floor and then rolled Hayter into the ring and went for cover, but Hayter was ejected. Rosa rose to the top but Becker took the championship title, causing a distraction Hayter to bring down Rosa. Hayter then bumped Rosa into the steel stairs, then hit the knee with the ropes. Rosa came back with kicks but was kicked into the corner and hit with a big chop by Hayter, who then hit her again and stood up.
Becker and Rebel appeared to get involved again but Storm confronted them and forced them to back off. Then Rosa and Hayter exchanged blows, then Rosa made a huge movement that pushed Hayter to the ground, hitting her head on the ground. Rosa returned Hayter to the ring and fired from the top rope into the cover, but Hayter was sent off. Hayter then picked up Rosa but ran away only to be picked up and hit with a broken back, but Rosa was kicked out of the cover attempt.
Hayter then took a huge blow and went for cover but Rosa was kicked out. Hayter threw Rosa into the corner and then when the referee broke things off Becker stepped in. Then Storm chased Becker, and while Becker got the first attack, Storm hit back and knocked her to the ground. Then in the ring, Rosa was able to roll and pin Hayter’s shoulders to the carpet long enough, and she got the pin and the win.
