Netflix presents a brand new romantic comedy that grabs the attention of viewers and gets positive response from critics as well. Move over the Purple Heart, now it’s wedding season in the spotlight.
The Wedding Season was released last week (Thursday, August 4th), and it quickly rose to the most-watched Netflix list. The shimmering rom-com is currently at number four, ahead of blockbuster Persuasion and Red Notice and behind The Gray Man and his new co-star in the top ten, Carter.
What is the wedding season?
Wedding season begins with Asha (Pallavi Sharda) breaking off her engagement, leaving her stable job as a banker and moving to New Jersey for a fresh start. But her mother does not fully support the idea, believing that Asha needs to find a husband as soon as possible if she wants to be happy.
Taking matters into her own hands, Asha’s mother creates an online dating profile in order to find the perfect match for her daughter. In the steps of Ravi (Soraj Sharma), whose parents had the same idea for their son and also set him up with an online dating profile in order to meet the perfect woman.
Asha and Ravi reluctantly agree to go on the first date at the request of their excited parents. History is a bust, but after realizing that her relentless mother won’t give up trying to find a husband, Asha proposes a plan to Ravi for the duo to pretend they’re in a relationship in order to get through the upcoming wedding season.
What begins with a platonic pact designed to deceive their interfering parents, quickly turns into something more and through countless invitations, dances, and dresses, Asha and Ravi slowly discover that they may be more common than initially thought.
What do critics say about the wedding season?

By most accounts, Wedding Season offers a balanced blend of comedy and romance that will easily attract viewers.
Netflix has a real penchant for romantic drama, but it’s refreshing to see the humble rom-com getting some attention, too.
