The Atlanta Braves could use some outside help, either now or in the near future. Could Jason Heyward be made available?
Heyward is not having a good offensive season. Heck, he didn’t have a good half a decade in Chicago.
Nevertheless, he remains a key and influential member of the Cubs Club and a darling of the organization. Jed Hoyer stated that the two sides would part after the year, but did not want to break off relations in early August.

Hoyer did not rule out Heyward’s role with the organization after his retirement but noted that the veteran told him he wanted to keep playing. It wouldn’t be with the Cubs.
“We felt it was the right thing to do given where we are as an organization,” Hoyer said. “He doesn’t like it but he understands where we are. I think he’s been a little disappointed in the last year and a half.”
