Dozens of HBO Max movies will leave the service in August 2022, just like any other month. This time, he bid farewell to several of the big franchises, including all of the Harry Potter movies.
Fortunately, there are still many of the best HBO Max shows and movies out there and new projects keep dropping every week. Like other streaming services, HBO Max flies through titles frequently. Some of them end up elsewhere, while others disappear into the digital wind. At least the quality of the HBO Max library is always high; That’s why we called it the best streaming service.
With our recommendations, you’ll stand a better chance of getting the most out of your HBO Max subscription this month. The list of departing movies has something for everyone, including superhero fare, supernatural horror, and a star-studded heist movie.
Here’s what to watch before they leave HBO Max in August 2022. Plus, check out our ongoing guide to New movies and shows to watch this weekend Our choice of What do you watch in August.
The best HBO Max movies to leave in August 2022
The Dark Knight
Christopher Nolan’s gritty Batman movie is widely considered one of the best superhero movie series in the genre. Both The Dark Knight and its predecessor, Batman Begins, are leaving HBO Max, although we expect them to return at some point since they’re both from the Warner Bros. films. Based on the DC property. Then again, Nolan fell out with the studio, so who knows? Take your chance to watch or rewatch whenever you can.
The Dark Knight is the climax of his trilogy, featuring an Academy Award winning performance by the late Heath Ledger as the Joker opposite Christian Bale’s Batman. Ledger captures the malevolence of a disturbed, psychotic villain with almost frightening clarity. As the Joker wreaks havoc and terror in Gotham City, Batman grapples with the moral complexities of vigilance and whether the ends always justify the means.

inevitable fate
All five Final Destination movies are coming out of HBO Max this month, so you could say the franchise hasn’t found its final destination (bah dum dum). It is not clear if they are going to another streaming service, as the IP belongs to Warner Brothers Discovery. For now, at least, they’re doing a ramp transfer – so indulge yourself while you can.
The first movie, released in 2000, follows several high school students who narrowly avoid boarding a plane and end up crashing. They survive thanks to Alex (Devon Sawa’s) obsession, but death is not ready to allow them to continue living. They were killed one by one in a series of unusual incidents. The series features new characters facing similar predicaments, as anyone who manages to escape its grasp is pursued by death.

Harry Potter
Watching the Harry Potter films in order was a difficult task, not thanks to the complex deals between Warner Brothers (the studio that made the films) and Universal (which owns the television rights to Wizarding World). Now that both studios have sister screens, the Harry Potter films have been bouncing back and forth between HBO Max and Peacock — sometimes available on both at the same time.
Now, though, the saga is disappearing from HBO Max (while it remains on Peacock). He will likely return at some point. Unless you want to sign up for Peacock, take this last chance to follow the adventures of Harry, Hermione, and Ron in the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, beginning with the Sorcerer’s Stone.

eleventh ocean
George! refrigerator! Julia! not shiny! Ocean’s Eleven is a star-studded old-school genre that’s rarely seen since, the original 1960’s Rat Pack movie. Not only does it feature some of Hollywood’s biggest names, but it’s a hilarious, hilarious hat that is just plain fun. George Clooney leads the new group as con man Danny Ocean, who assembles a team to avenge a grudge against a casino owner, win back his ex-wife (Julia Roberts), and of course, get rich in the process.
Ocean’s Eleven and its series, Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen, are all perfect and easy entertainment for a movie night. HBO Max and rest before all three films leave the service.

Hell
The Underworld franchise has attracted an enthusiastic fan base, despite the dismal reviews and little or no cultural influence. Worshipers are drawn to a groundbreaking performance by Kate Beckinsale, a black leather and metallic aesthetic, thrusting action sequences and fantasy props of vampires versus werewolves. Celine Beckinsale Glacier is a vampire warrior who hunts the Lycans. Her perspective changes when her human love interest (Scott Speedman) is bitten, putting them in the crosshairs of both sides.
Only three of the five (yes, five!) Underworld movies are available to stream on HBO Max and will soon be unavailable. The franchise is owned by Sony, so we have a feeling that the rights to some or all of these rights have been sold to another bidder for a while. Get your “Matrix but with vampires” fix now.
