SVU probably the basis of the episode on the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard trial

Law & Order: SVU is set to begin its 24th season later this year, and the franchise is known for basing its episodes on real-life situations. It could happen again this season, as new images from the set could suggest that a future episode will be based on the well-publicized court battle of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. Photos (via ET Canada) show Captain Olivia Benson (Maresca Hargitay) escorting the unidentified Golden Tales character outside the courtroom, and the crowd waiting outside is clearly divided, with signs saying things like “Team Austin” and “I stand with Austin” as well. Team Kelsey”, which might end up being the name of Telles’ character.

This appears to be a reference to Depp and Heard’s libel trial, as there were crowds of supporters outside bearing similar signs during the trial. Signs might say things like “I stand with Johnny Depp,” and since the Syrian Virtual University has adapted to high-profile cases and court battles before, this could be very good.

We’ll have to wait and see if this episode winds up with more ties to Depp and Heard’s defamation trial, but what we do know is that David Graziano will be the new presenter for season 24, interfering with season 23 show Warren Light, who advanced after season 23 ended.

The series stars Mariska Hargitay, ICE, Kelly Gidish, Peter Scanavino and Octavio Pisano for season 24, and the show will be produced by Graziano, Dick Wolf, Julie Martin, Hargitay, Norberto Barba, Ken Brown, Arthur Forney and Peter Jankowski, and co-produced by Universal Television with Wolf Entertainment.

There will also be a major crossover between all three current shows in the franchise, with SVU, Organized Crime, and the recently revived original series all collaborating for the premiere this fall, starting Thursday, September 22. Last season, there were several crossovers between SVU and organized crime, but Law & Order was not involved. This will obviously change this year, but it remains to be seen if the three long performances will intersect again as the season continues.
