The Australian government’s press release was discovered by Twitter Outlet Kaiju New Outlet, with spoilers revealing that Kong will return as the protector of planet Earth, rather than as an adversary looking to crush cities and people under his hairy feet:

Will see the fifth movie in the MonsterVerse franchise Kong Defend the Earth from the unusual and dangerous creatures that threaten his new homeland.”

The director of the sequel who directed the first game, Adam Wingard, had this to say about where he hopes to take MonsterVerse in the future, Via a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly:

“I think Godzilla vs. Kong is the first time we’ve really been able to have complete sequences where the movie leaves the humans and stays with the monsters, just like any other character. That’s a huge breakthrough in terms of sound effects and even a story perspective. If ever there was a MonsterVerse movie Another, in my opinion, should be the first full-fledged monster movie. I would say, 30 percent of the humans, the remaining monsters, basically flip the formula of what a lot of these movies are in general that I think people are ready for.”

Godzilla vs. Kong Streaming on HBO Max. Godzilla vs. Kong 2 It will be released in theaters on March 15, 2024.
