“High School” premiere date and teaser revealed (TV news report)

Amazon Freevee has released the first trailer for “High School,” which is set to premiere on October 14th on livestream.

Based on the 2019 memoir of the same name by independent pop duo Teegan and Sarah Coen, the eight-episode drama revolves around the memories of twin sisters growing up in the 1990s and searching for their own identities. “High School” stars TikTok creators Railey and Seazynn Gilliland, along with Esther McGregor, Olivia Rouyre, Amanda Fix, Brianne Tju, Geena Meszaros, CJ Valleroy, Nate Corddry, and special guest stars Cobie Smulders and Kyle Bornheimer.

The series is produced by Clea DuVall, Tegan, Sara Quin, Laura Kittrell, Plan B’s Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, and Carina Sposato. DuVall and Kittrell also serve as showrunners and co-writers, with DuVall directing several episodes. Produced by Amazon Studios and Plan B Entertainment.

High School will have its world premiere in September at the Toronto International Film Festival. The drama will release its first four episodes on Amazon Free on Friday, October 14. Freevee revealed the trailer during his segment of TV Critics Assn. Friday press tour.

White Label Productions has announced the appointment of Stephanie Wagner as Senior Vice President and Head of Production. Netflix’s Katie Judkins has also joined the company as production director at White Label. Depending on their respective roles, Wagner and Judkins will focus on upgrading the company’s production services for several series produced in the past year, including “Miss Universe 2021” for FOX and “Savage X Fenty Show” for Amazon Prime Video. Wagner’s production management credits include USA Network’s “Barmageddon,” “The 94th Nomination Show,” “The Lego Masters,” and ABC’s A Very Boy Band Holiday. Prior to White Label, Judkins ran production services for Netflix’s “Selling Sunset,” “Love is Blind,” “Queer Eye,” and “Car Masters: Rust to Riches.”

The Digital Entertainment Group (DEG) has elected its newest board member to serve through July 2024, with Dan Cohen of Paramount Global as Chairman of the DEG Board of Directors. Additional officers include Vice President Jonathan Zip of Google, Chief Financial Officer Andrea Downing of PBS Distribution, Secretary Rick Hack of Intel, and Chairman Emeritus Jim Wuthrich of Warner Bros. Discovery. A new member of DEG AWS and a returning member of Sony Pictures Entertainment are newly represented on the DEG Board of Directors. AWS is represented by Chris Blandi and Sony Pictures is represented by Jason Spivak. In addition, Board members have appointed Deloitte’s Robin Tarofelli as Special Adviser to the Board for 2022-23, whose role is to provide more diverse input from membership segments and companies that may not currently be represented on the Board.
