Max Fried gives a frightening description of concussion-like symptoms

Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I don’t have anything from previous experience…I don’t know how I’m supposed to feel.”

This little-known experience, Fried explained, makes this particular scenario even more frightening.

Fried went on to describe his symptoms as “a constant headache…just stuff like that.”

Fortunately, he will be under close supervision. But the uncertainty of concussion is what makes it a threat to the longevity and long-term health of any professional athlete. Fortunately, baseball is usually not a practical, contact sport.

Unfortunately, Fried is not so lucky in this regard.

Braves put Max Fried on the injured list

Fried was injured when she rebounded from Dansby Swanson and hit the star bowler in the chest. Then he slipped, and fell onto his fiery shoulder.

While the concussion wasn’t the first thing on his mind – it wasn’t clear that anything had contacted Fried’s head – this is ultimately what he was diagnosed with.

Despite the concussion, Fried stayed in the game and pitched six runs. The Braves eventually lost to rival Mets, where Fried was lost by teammate Max Scherzer.

Atlanta called up right-hand shooter Jay Jackson to take Fried’s place on the roster. Jackson had a 2.13 ERA in 12 appearances for Triple-A Gwinnett.
