Next James Bond: Tom Holland 007’s opportunities appeared after the end of Spider-Man’s contract | movies | entertainment

Since Daniel Craig stepped down from playing James Bond after No Time To Die, the race to replace him has begun. While the official announcement is likely to come within the next year, a number of huge British stars are vying for the odds for Bond.

While the likes of Tom Hardy and Regé-Jean Page are at the top level of the options, Tom Holland – who stars in Spies in Disguise at 3:5 US on Channel 4 today – has just stepped up to the plate.

Holland has become a huge star in Hollywood in recent years after his mainstream appearance in Marvel’s Spider-Man series.

He first arrived in Captain America: Civil War before he had his own trilogy, ending with No Way Home, which hits cinemas at the end of 2021. But after the third film in his series, Holland revealed his contract with Marvel to play Spider-Man over .

He said at the time:[No Way Home] It will be my last one. So, I always told them if they wanted me back, I’d be there in a heartbeat. And he added, ‘If they want me back, I’ll be there, and if they don’t, I’ll go into the sunset. A very happy person because it was a wonderful trip.’

Now, the odds of becoming the new and improved 007 star have been scaled back.

Holland was given odds of 40/1 to become the new and improved 007 by Ladbrokes.

This would be a huge change for James Bond given how young Holland is.

The British superstar is currently 26 years old – almost a decade younger than Daniel Craig when he became James Bond.

However, his youth could be a huge boon for the star, who will be able to play the character forever for the foreseeable future.

Cavill getting the role would be a great opportunity for the star – especially considering he’s already been turned down due to the character.

He auditioned for 007 in 2005 for Casino Royale, but lost to Craig after being told he looked “a bit full”.

Despite this, Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “The race to replace Daniel Craig is firmly underway, and as things stand, it is Henry Cavill who leads the way to get the nod.”

He is followed at odds by Idris Elba, best known for playing Heimdall on the Thor series, as well as Detective Luther on the BBC.

Elba has an impressive 4/1 in escaping with the role. However, the Netflix star is close to his tail.

Page has 9/2 after the rise in popularity of Bridgerton period dramas.

But he previously mentioned how he thought including him in Bond’s odds was “fun” – and nothing more.

After him, Tom Hardy is the big contender, with 5/1. But will the Venom star be able to reconcile his other perks with being Bond?

James Bond No Time To Die is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video now.
