The surprising thing is that John Cena apparently told WWE writers when asked about the possibility of flipping heels

When it comes to John Cena and wrestling, it’s hard to think of something he hasn’t done. He has come close to overtaking Ric Flair’s record number of world title runs in WWE, and is already considered a legend both for his in-ring work and the range of charitable projects he is involved in around the world. Despite all that he’s achieved, there is a major wrestling milestone that most stars take at some point in their careers that Cena hasn’t done yet. Although a former WWE writer revealed that it was discussed, and it seems Cena reacted to the idea in a surprising way.

Former WWE writer Brian Gerwitz appeared on Cheap Heat with Peter Rosenberg A podcast ahead of the release of his next book, There’s only one problem: true tales from a former, one-time, seventh-strongest person in WWE. During the conversation, Gerwitz recalled John Cena’s response when WWE writers tried to persuade him to go, and as it turned out, the star was more than willing to commit:

Well, listen, do you want to turn me into heels? If that’s what Vince [McMahon] He says you guys want me to do, I will do it. But just so you know, I’ll go with a full heel. There wouldn’t be something like, “Oh, it’s a fun heel, it’s a cool heel, it’s winking at the audience’s heel.”
