Walker Independence star Kathryn McNamara to star in new teaser series

Independence WalkerPrequel to Jared Padalecki Walkerslated to premiere on The CW this fall to introduce viewers to the story of Abigail “Abby” Walker, Cordell Walker’s predecessor in a story set more than a century ago in the Old West. Currently, Arrow Catherine blamed everyone for “running from something” in independence. You can check it out for yourself below.

in Independence WalkerAbby Walker (McNamara), a wealthy and hard-headed Bostonian husband is murdered before her eyes during their journey west. After crossing paths with Calian (Justin Johnson-Cortez), a curious Apache tracker, Abby arrives in Independence, Texas where she meets a diverse and eclectic population escaping their pasts, chasing their dreams, and keeping their secrets, including Kate Carver (Katie Findlay), a comic dancer. A themed perhaps very interested in the origins of Abe, and Kai (Lawrence Cao), a soulful Chinese immigrant who runs a local restaurant/laundry and offers friendship with Abe without an agenda. Abby also bumps into Hoyt Rawlings (Matt Barr), a con artist, slipper, thief, and con artist with a heart drenched gold, who quickly looks at Abby as a sign to turn the tables on him. In her quest for justice for her husband, Abby meets the noble Independence Police Deputy Chief, Augustus (Philemon Chambers) and his new boss, Sheriff Tom Davidson (Greg Hovannisian) who she has reason to believe is a really bad guy. Soon, Abby and Hoyt find themselves precariously aligned, and both seek to uncover the truth about the identity of Abe’s husband’s killer, and vow to save Independence – a thriving frontier town where nothing is as it seems.

“It’s not the West you’d expect,” McNamara previously said. “Every character is not what it seems on the surface. It has the feel and nostalgia of a Western, but it’s a very modern story with characters going through very cool real things.”

“The boundaries were really very diverse and weird, all sorts of things,” Findlay said. “You can’t often see that because history is written by white men. It’s really great to be on the cast representing more of a landscape reality at a time when so many people are coming together and struggling to survive.”

Independence Walker Debuts Thursday, October 6 at 9/8c on The CW.
