Anne Heche discontinues life support after finding transplant recipients

“Today we’ve lost a shining light, a kind and cheerful soul, a loving mother, and a loyal friend. We will miss Anne dearly but she lives through her beautiful sons, her remarkable body at work, and her emotional calling,” the statement read. “Her courage to always stand for who she really is, and to spread her message of love and acceptance, will continue to have a lasting impact.”

Following the announcement on Friday, Heche’s 20-year-old son released his own statement.

“My brother Atlas and I lost our mother,” he said, referring to his 13-year-old brother. “After six days of almost unbelievable emotional upheavals, I left a silent deep grief. I hope my mother is free of pain and begins to explore what I like to imagine as her eternal freedom.”

He continued, “During those six days, I’ve made thousands of friends, family, and fans in their hearts. I am grateful for their love, because for the support of my father, Collie, and my wife Alexei who continue to be my rock during this time. Rest in peace Mom, I love you.”
