Aquaman star Amber Heard hires new lawyers to appeal Johnny Depp’s verdict

Amber Heard forms a new legal team to appeal the verdict in the trial against ex-husband Johnny Depp. According to new reports, Amber Heard is “replacing most of her legal team” for the next round of legal battle with Depp; Back in June, the much-publicized six-week trial between Depp and Heard ended with Depp awarding $10.4 million from a Virginia judge. The jury also ruled in Depp’s favor on very few charges relating to the extensive list of wrongdoing the couple accused each other of — ranging from abuse (physical, verbal, and emotional) to defamation (as 2018 WaPo op-ed Heard wrote, indirectly referring to a marriage Allegedly abusive with Depp.

Heard was allegedly unhappy with the performance of her legal team in the Virginia case, as Depp’s lawyers successfully focused on personal credibility by aggressively attempting to paint Heard as a planner and actress in the truest sense of the word. This tactic certainly had an effect, as Heard was the overwhelming focus of ridicule and vitriol on social media during the trial, with popular hashtags such as “#JusticeForJohnnyDepp” and “#AmberHeardIsALiar” a regular occurrence.

The court filing now shows that Amber Heard’s lead attorney, Elaine Bredehoft, is present, and attorneys David L. The names Axelrod and Brown have briefed legal experts on the fact that Heard appears to be doubling the First Amendment angle of her case, which – if successfully argued – would presumably allow to Heard by claiming that her 2018 editorial was that freedom of speech is important and not an act of defamation calculated to bring down Depp’s career. Depp and Heard have legally gone back and forth about who the abusive spouse was in the relationship, and have gone beyond the consequences of discussing the matter in the public domain. Apparently, the next round of that fight is on the way…

“We welcome the opportunity to represent Ms. Heard on this appeal because it is an issue that has important First Amendment implications for every American,” Heard’s new legal team said in a statement. “We are confident that the Court of Appeal will properly apply the law without regard to popularity, reverse the judgment against Ms Heard, and reaffirm the fundamental principles of free speech.”

It is now estimated that the ongoing legal battle between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp will extend directly to the DC and Warner Bros. release. The sequel to the billion dollar Aquman movie, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. This will lead to controversy over the big DC Films releases next year; Aquaman 2 and The Flash, with recently arrested co-star Ezra Miller.
