Ewan McGregor comments on the possibility of joining the MCU

Ewan McGregor is no stranger to the filmmaking franchise. The beloved actor is best known for his portrayal of iconic Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi in the previous Star Wars trilogy, as well as the latest Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ TV series. Two years ago, he played the villainous Roman Siones wild birds. With Star Wars and DC already under his belt, fans are clearly curious about whether McGregor also wants to take a stab at the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

McGregor spoke on a panel during Fan Expo Boston this weekend, and ComicBook.com’s Liam Crowley was in attendance. While on stage, McGregor was asked about any potential interest in the MCU. He explained that while it might be fun, he’s not sure this is another big franchise he’s looking to add to his movie franchise.

“I don’t know. I don’t know I want to do that,” McGregor said. “Because I love doing all kinds of different things. That’s right. I love directing. I’d like to be in the theater again. I definitely want to do this again, you know, I’m in the Star Wars universe. I feel like I don’t need someone else… I’m not looking for it anyway. I feel like I shouldn’t say I won’t because in a couple of years you’ll be like, ‘I told you you’d never do this!’ “But I’m not looking for her in particular.”

McGregor seems happy to stick with Star Wars for now, and for good reason. Fans loved seeing him reprise the role of Obi-Wan. McGregor also made it clear that he would love to get a chance to play in the sandbox again.

“That’s the beautiful thing about how passionate about Disney, Lucasfilm, all of us, who’ve been involved from the start is that we try really hard not to let anything bad just to protect your experience of seeing it for the first time, speaking of his experience with the new,” McGregor said during the same session. Obi-Wan Kenobi turns out. “I think it’s really cool that Disney and Lucasfilm care so much about the fan experience. They really want you to have a 100% experience the first time you see it, and if you’ve read that, and it got leaked, and it came out, it’s just An unfortunate thing, isn’t it? It’s like looking at your Christmas presents before Christmas Day.”
