Houston, Texas (KTRK) – A man serving six life sentences linked to the infamous Candyman murders in Houston will not be considered for release after he requested his release on medical grounds.

Elmer Wayne Henley made headlines around the world in 1973 when he murdered Dean Curl and led police to the bodies of nearly 30 young men and boys.

Henley admitted to participating in only six murders between 1970 and 1973 but was linked to several of the crimes, along with a young man named David Brooks.

Henley applied for parole last week and was told he would not be considered for medical release at this time.

For privacy reasons, the state will not specify Henley’s medical status. It was reviewed for parole more than 20 times, all of which were denied.

The Candyman Murders is one of the heinous crimes in Houston history and Jessica Wylie has spent months researching the case.

Leaving no less than 28 victims and countless loved ones grieving, a dedicated anthropologist who has spent years bringing victims home and the big question nearly 50 years later – are there more bodies out there?
