Nintendo shares the encouraging news about the Switch’s price increase

Nintendo has shared encouraging news when it comes to potential price increases for the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, and Nintendo Switch OLED consoles. In recent months, some fans have begun to worry that persistent inflation could drive up the prices of video game platforms like the Switch over time. And while Nintendo has yet to announce that this is something it will be looking to do, it doesn’t look like such a plan is on the horizon at all.

Talking to NikkiIn fact, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa was asked whether or not the company would seek to increase Switch prices in the future. Amid constant inflation and a shortage of parts to manufacture video game consoles, it has become more expensive to continue to manufacture these consoles. Fortunately, Nintendo is not looking to pass this cost on to consumers in the form of a price increase.

“We are not thinking about it at this point, for two reasons. In order to offer unique entertainment to a wide range of customers, we want to avoid pricing people. Our competition is the diversity of entertainment in the world, and we have always thought about pricing in terms of the fun value we provide,” Furukawa said. In this regard. “Our products also include software. Nintendo has sold over 100 million Switch units to date, and it’s important to maintain our overall business momentum. Overall, the weak yen makes domestic Switch sales less profitable.”

Furukawa went on to say that the OLED model of the Nintendo Switch, in particular, would be “less profitable than our other models.” Despite this, a price increase was not planned to offset the higher manufacturing and shipping costs. Instead, Furukawa says the company is just looking at other options to figure out how to keep operating costs as low as possible.

Are you happy to hear that Nintendo isn’t looking to sell the Switch at a higher price? Do you think there is an opportunity to change this plan in the future? Let me know either down below in the comments or message me on Twitter at Trustworthy.
