Everton want Neal Maupay and he has spoken to Frank Lampard about a move to Goodison Park this summer.
The Toffees added the likes of Conor Coady, James Tarkowski, Ruben Vinagre, Amadou Onana and Dwight McNeil in what turned out to be a strong window.
However, the top priority is clear; Everton simply need to sign a new striker this summer.
Richarlison was sold to Tottenham Hotspur, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin is currently injured.
Frank Lampard needs new attacking options and it is essential that at least one striker arrives in the coming weeks.
Everton want Neal Maupay
One target for Everton is Brighton and Hove Albion striker Maupay, who looks set to leave in the coming weeks.
Brighton have added a new striker of their own in German hitman Deniz Undav and Maupay has been featured.
Now “Athletic” reports Maupay has spoken directly to Everton boss Lampard about a move to Merseyside.
Nottingham Forest and Fulham are also interested in Maupay, meaning Everton are in a real battle for his signature.
Maupay will cost around £15m and Everton will be hoping Lampard’s personal connection can see the deal through at home.
The French international was a target for Rafael Benitez last summer, but Everton failed to secure his signature.
“Brighton” head coach Graham Potter called Maupei “fantastic”. and he has been a decent goalscorer for Albion over the years.
Maupay has scored eight goals in the last two Premier League seasons and 10 in the campaign before that, an impressive 37 goals in 85 Championship games for Brentford.
Maupay may not be first choice in the minds of Everton fans, but he has been a prolific goalscorer in the Premier League and could give the Toffees the extra firepower they desire.
