People are raving about Brooklyn Beckham for claiming he paid for the $1.2 million McLaren P1 thanks to his career as a ‘chef’

Brooklyn Beckham is the 23-year-old son of former soccer star David Beckham and Spice Girl turned fashion designer, Victoria Beckham. David and Victoria Beckham have a combined net worth of $450 million. Brooklyn is married to an actress/model named Nicola Peltz. Nicola’s father, Nelson Peltz, is a legendary financier who has a net worth of $1.8 billion.

With that pedigree in mind, Brooklyn is roasting this week thanks to an answer he gave when asked how he could afford a $1.2 million car. I’ll get to this in a minute. For now, let me just say Brooklyn Beckham has had a bumpy career path so far. I’m not suggesting anyone has a perfect career planned at 23, but Brooklyn Beckham’s resume is riddled with bumps…and nepotism.

At the age of fifteen, Brooklyn spent some time in the Arsenal Football Academy, hoping to follow in his father’s footsteps as a professional footballer. He left after a year.

After that, Brooklyn sought a job as a photographer. He got some serious practice… thanks to his parents… and even released a photography book, which he widely mocked:

In recent years, Brooklyn has re-established itself as a professional chef. And despite the fact that he apparently didn’t have any professional culinary training, Brooklyn’s SOMEHOW has managed to land a bunch of appearances on some high-profile TV shows.

For example, he appeared several times on NBC’s “Today” and at least once appeared on former James Corden’s Late Night Show. (James and Beckham are close family friends.)

Brooklyn’s cooking sectors were also not well received. Primarily because he tends to go on national TV shows pretending to be an expert culinary artist, only to make something really basic…like a quesadilla or a breakfast sandwich. Literally.

When he “made” a breakfast sandwich on the Today show, he actually took precooked meat out of the pan before assembling the sandwich…with the addition of…ketchup! Bone apple tea.

On the James Corden Show, Brooklyn made steak in a skillet and fries in the oven. His secret was…salt sprinkles.

I don’t know why anyone cares and maybe we should take a break for the kid. Who among us would not switch from one profession to another if given the opportunity.

On the other hand, Brooklyn raises a bit of a mockery of itself at times.

There is a TikToker named Daniel Mac who goes to people who drive nice cars and asks them what they do for the living that gave them such a great car. This week he saw Daniel Brooklyn driving what appears to be Rodeo Drive in a McLaren P1. Price tag?

$1.2 million

To the dismay of the Internet this week, when Daniel asked him what he had done to save $1.2 million from McLaren, Brooklyn replied:

“I’m a chef.”

Follow this answer in words of insightful advice on how to make it:

Follow your passion and do what makes you happy.

As the internet gleefully pointed out, Brooklyn Beckham’s response failed to mention the fact that his parents or in-laws had a definite connection to the purchase of that $1.2 million car. A more accurate response to Daniel Mac would be closer to:

I am the son of superstars David and Victoria Beckham, who are basically half-billionaires, and my father-in-law has a fortune of $1.8 billion. Sometimes I make breakfast on TV but that has nothing to do with your specific question.
