Los Angeles — Anne Hechey’s death was ruled an accident, primarily caused by smoke inhalation and fire after she was involved in a flaming car crash on August 5, the Los Angeles County coroner has determined.
The county released Heichi’s official cause of death on Wednesday, listing it as “inhalation and heat injuries,” while also noting that she had suffered a sternum fracture from blunt trauma.

Heche’s Mini Cooper was driving at high speeds through the Mar Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles on August 5 when it apparently lost control and crashed into the house. The car smashed into the walls of the house, lost a resident and her pet, and then caught fire.
She was initially hospitalized in a critical condition with a severe brain injury and fell into a coma after the accident.
The Los Angeles Police Department later said that Heche had Drugs in her system at the time of the accident.
