Hulu’s last original hit victim, the newest chapter in the Predator franchise, has had a long way to go to stand up to the masses. Director Dan Trachtenberg was actually developing the project long before the release of the last entry in the series (2018’s predator), but also long before the Walt Disney Company bought 20th Century Fox. Speaking in a new interview, Trachtenberg has opened up about his original line of thought for marketing the film, revealing that keeping the secret of being the Predator was something they hoped to keep for a long time in the film’s marketing. In fact, he wanted to put out a teaser like Cloverfield that didn’t even show an intergalactic bounty hunter.
“I never thought it would really make it to the movie, but what I wanted the trailer to be (discreet),” Trachtenberg revealed in filmcast. “At first I was hoping the movie would have started showing the last Predator movie. So you’ll see a trailer for that movie that’s just the first part, this girl goes out to prove herself and then she sees a fire in the sky, and she’s going to say ‘what is this crazy movie?’ and you really feel Science fiction, but that’s all you’ll get, there won’t be a title. Then when is 2018 predator The movie shown is going to be the full trailer for that movie revealing then, of course using the bear sequence, so in blood you reveal the figure and go “Oh my God, that movie we were really interested in, that was the Predator!.”

“It’s very funny because the Predator has come back into my life for the past five years,” Trachtenberg added. “I was so overwhelmed looking at this creature and the lore and the other movies and all that stuff, reminding myself of what I love about those movies and what I’d do differently. I definitely see the reaction and I love the way it makes people remember their fondness for the original movies and seeing people who haven’t seen a single movie embrace Absolutely this movie.”
