Seth MacFarlane Calls Season 4 a “Blank Slate”

The third season of Orvilleor as it is now known Orville: New HorizonsIt just ended and fans are wondering if the series will return with more episodes in the near future. In a surprising move, series creator and star Seth MacFarlane is still unsure of the show’s potential for more and has said a lot in an interview now. When asked before TV line If the show’s fourth season would promote two main characters to regular characters, MacFarlane shrugged: “That’s tough, because I don’t know. Season four is a blank slate.”

MacFarlane adds, “It’s hard to say exactly what season four will be, because when we started writing season three, we describe the things that happened – alliances shifted, Kaylon became an ally, two clients became enemies – I never could have predicted. It’s just something that happened in The writers room over time. Certainly we made threads this year, and most of them were pretty obvious, which works for the gains in Season 4, but how it all intertwines and evolves and evolves…. I don’t even know if we’ve been caught!”

The Emmy-winning writer previously pegged the series’ renewal prospects in “50-50,” but since all three seasons of the series are now airing on Disney+ plus Hulu, there may be more eyeballs on it than ever before.

“From a storytelling point of view, this is a lot better for me because my biggest problem, especially the proliferation of broadcast programming, there are some talented writers working on network dramas, but the problem is that you have to cut everything down to exactly 43 minutes,” MacFarlane told ComicBook.com previously announced that the series would go live. “That’s not how storytelling works. It’s not. You don’t want every story to be the same length and if you have a scene that plays really nice, it’s emotional and you take your time with it. It makes the audience feel something, you might have to cut something out. It really shouldn’t be cut off.”
