After Bruce Banner and Hulk ended up outside Avengers: Infinity War After this fight with Thanos, Avengers: Endgame I saw these two halves merging into one being. During the five-year gap between Thanos’ shot and the undone annihilation of Mad Titan, Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce finds a way to combine his wits and personality with the Hulk’s physique, and the Smart Hulk is born! However, when Bruce appeared in Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings The mid-credits scene about a year ago, instead of appearing as the Smart Hulk, looked like a normal human again. Well, good new, Marvel fans, the first episode of Disney+ She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Not only did he provide an explanation for why Bruce came back to being a human, he also delved into why he was back as a Smart Hulk.

Shortly before Jennifer shares her theory that Steve Rogers died a virgin, the two then get into a car accident when suddenly a Saccharan spaceship appears in front of them (yes, these relationships are in their entirety) Strong woman Narration), Bruce was talking about how he devised a device to preserve his human form as a way to heal his injured arm. Avengers: Endgame When he used Infinity Stones obtained from Time Heist to bring back the people Thanos turned to dust. Bruce was broaching this just because Jennifer asked what it was, but hey, we fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe appreciate the explanation!
When we met Smart Hulk in Avengers: Endgameit looked as if Bruce Banner was permanently stuck in this form, which is why he was so surprising when he looked like a human while posing in a hologram (with his arm still in a sling) with Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel in Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings To analyze header effects. At the time, some of my theories as to why Bruce would return to being human included Dr. Strange and Wong who magically transformed Bruce or that this was some kind of 3D disguise, but my first guess ended up being accurate, as this was pulled with the power of science. infinity war And the game over Directors Joe and Anthony Russo may have said the Hulk’s arm damage would be permanent, but it’s clear that the creative minds at Marvel Studios felt differently and decided to take steps to undo that burn, which leads us to how the Smart Hulk is back in the picture.
Upon exiting from the aforementioned car accident, Jennifer Walters cut off her arm, and unfortunately, human Bruce Banner was bleeding. Bruce tries to warn his cousin to stay away from him, but some of his blood oozes into her open wound, turning her into a She-Hulk. Bruce eventually retrieves Jennifer and sends her back to his place in Mexico where he merges the Hulk and Banner identities during The Blip. Since Jennifer passed out during her first She-Hulk moments, Bruce quickly grabbed her to find out what had happened to her, which included explaining how he had used her blood, which is now making gamma radiation in a special way, to completely heal his arm. While Bruce did not explicitly state what happened to the device that was keeping him human, rather than destroying it in the car accident, it appears that after repairing his arm, he turned it off because it could be his “completely integrated person over and over again.”
So the time to spend time with the human Bruce Banner is over again, although that doesn’t mean he won’t be able to get back one day. The Smart Hulk may be seriously injured again, requiring him to return to being human for another spell to speed up the healing process. However, this device wouldn’t work for Jennifer Walters, as Bruce told his cousin that it was a “prototype” calibrated specifically for him. Unlike Bruce, Jennifer can still switch between her human and hulk selves naturally, plus she has the advantage of retaining her personality when in She-Hulk form. In between all of that, as well as better handling her anger, Jennifer got off to a much smoother start as She-Hulk than in Bruce’s early years as the Hulk.
While the first episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Heavyweight, it’s not clear if we’ll see more of Mark Ruffalo’s character over the remainder of the season. Jennifer Walters certainly doesn’t lack opportunities to cross over with familiar Marvel characters, as we’ll soon see her interactions with Tim Roth’s Emil Blonsky/Abomination, Benedict Wong’s Wong, and Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock/Daredevil (now dressed in a different costume). First and foremost, this is a She-Hulk show, and we need to see her able to handle threats on her own. Fortunately, I was easily able to defeat Jameela Jamil Titania at the end of this episode, so this shouldn’t be a problem. However, my fingers were crossed because we’ve got a decent She-Hulk/Smart Hulk team before She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is over.
New episodes of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Drop Thursdays for Disney+ subscribers, and per Mark Ruffalo, it’s clear we’ll see Jennifer Walters after the series ends. Avengers: Kang Dynasty and maybe even Avengers: Secret Wars.
