When it comes to horror movies, there are few that I consider a cinematic legend, if only because there has been an influx of a lot of movies that weren’t so good. However, in my eyes, there has been a comeback of amazing horror movies, such as Best Blumhouse Horror Moviesor all of these Amazing A24 Horror Flicks. From where I stand, though, none of these great horror movies would have been made had it not been for the foundation that was laid before them.
I’m talking about the early slasher movies, the ones we all know and love, and one of them, for me, was (and still is) Halloween. It was one of the first horror movies I ever watched, with my mother on a cold afternoon on TV, and those movies have been a staple of my life ever since, especially the first.
On my never-ending mission to prepare for a spooky season by rewatching it all The Halloween movies in order, I recently saw the first again, and I had a few thoughts I just had to share.
this is. Opening. smacks. All. time.
The opening with a horror movie is one of the most important scenes that a director can master for many reasons. A lot of times, at the start of a horror movie, you really have to set the tone to know exactly what you’re getting into, and that’s what Halloween Do.
We don’t even start with the movie. All we start with is credits and that The iconic score, directed by John Carpenter In the background, with that noisy piano and orange letters written on a black screen with only a glowing lantern being our only light source. I could do an entire piece on music just on this movie alone, but with these opening credits, it’s really cool.
I’ve watched this movie countless times, and yet, somehow, I always feel myself shivering in anticipation whenever I watch the opening credits, and it still sends a shiver down my spine.
I still can’t believe this was Jamie Lee Curtis’ first movie
Want to talk about an example? Classic Scream Queen? Jamie Lee Curtis he is which – which. is the identification. There have been many scream queens who have come and gone in movie history, but Curtis has been and always will be the ultimate leader of them all, because she’s so good in this movie.
While Curtis had some work in Hollywood before her role Halloween, Like portrayed by Lieutenant Barbara Doran on petticoat process seriesAnd the Her first feature film was to play Laurie Strode, a name that is still prominent in Halloween The franchise continues to this day, with Curtis currently playing her role in the latest sequels.
I have I’ve seen Jamie Lee Curtis in many roles After her role in the famous horror franchise, from freaky friday to me Take out the knives to me Everything everywhere at once, But no one can deny how much impact this movie had on her career and the legacy she made in Hollywood. She wasn’t just a scream queen – she’s a queen survivor And I think that’s why I love Laurie the most.
While this is a great horror movie, some of the deaths were a bit cheesy
Listen, I don’t expect X blood levels In Slaughtered from 1978. I know the movie companies were less lenient in terms of showing blood at the time. It was a different time, a different world. But, dang, some of these deaths So Cheap.
As much as I applaud the opening of the movie, the first death in which Michael kills his sister Judith is very Clichés and not necessarily scary. There wasn’t a lot of blood, considering how seriously Michael stabbed her, and I feel like it would have been a little scary had there been more room for more blood. Some of the other dead are also upset, like how Michael strangled Annie and “slit her throat” even though we didn’t see any blood.
However, the cheese of mortality is offset by the fantastic score behind each case, creating an interesting environment. While the characters are freaked out by death and the villain, the audience is terrified by the outcome that only adds to the horror, even yelling at the teens, “Turn around!” before they meet their sudden end.
Michael Myers is truly one of the scariest horror movies villains
I can’t get over this guy. just me I can not.
There was surprisingly a lot Horror movies erotic villainsThe ones that also lived on in the minds of scary movie fans. We can talk about Freddy Krueger, Pennywise, and even the Shark from jaws If you want to take that into account, but nothing, and I mean nothing, He approaches Michael Myers.
For years, he was always the one who really terrified me. Michael, for me, it is Human. Unlike many other scary creatures we’ve seen in horror movies, it’s just plain threatening and terrifying stands up there. It does not need any saws like the beds in it Texas The saw massacre Or sharp teeth like Pennywise. All he needs is a mask, a jumpsuit, and a large chef’s knife.
He doesn’t even run. All he does is walk. Those cold, lifeless eyes through the mask stare at his next victim, watching her endlessly and plotting her death. It’s calculated, threatening, and just heavy breathing Sends goosebumps down my spine every time I’ve seen this movie.
It also does not seem to help Michael I can not death. This man was beheaded, stabbed, and shot multiple times, but as Laurie Strode and Dr. Loomis said, Michael is a pure evil incarnate.
This is the symbol of the end in many ways
The Halloween The ending is one of the best horror movie endings of all time. It really comes to you out of nowhere after this heavy cat-and-mouse game between Michael and Laurie, and ends when Dr. Loomis comes home and shoots Michael. He supposedly fell to his death, but on the next shot, we found he was gone.
Just He went.
We see Laurie crying, Dr. Loomis seems utterly terrified that Michael could be anywhere, and many different snapshots of previous locations we’ve visited throughout the night show us that Michael could literally be anywhere. who – which is how to prepare a supplement. We didn’t know anything about Michael, not really, however, now we want to know more.
How did he survive all those gunshots? where did he go? Will Laurie be okay? Why is he chasing Laurie exactly? there So A lot of that goes unanswered and it’s all related to Michael’s heavy breathing, before it turns black and makes me want to watch the next movie. He is an icon in every sense of the word and I love him very much.
At the time of this writing, in August 2022, The end of Halloween Just around the cornerI look forward to receiving The End of Jamie Lee Curtis Photography by LaurieBut Michael will always come back. We know that as much as you do. But I’ll be in the theater regardless, enjoying this horror movie until the end.
Then I might want to go home and watch the original all over again.
