Before Scott Derrickson parted Doctor Strange in a multiverse of madnessThe director was outspoken about his desire to see Nightmare appear on the project. The villain is the true archenemy of Stephen Strange and the characters first appeared in the same comic together. Now, concept art has surfaced online to show what a villain in the series might look like.
In one set of photos, a stranger can be seen standing near the lake house where his sister died. On the frozen ice is Nightmare on top of the Dreamstalker, his black spot often seen in the comics. These images are provided by Artistic Director Oliver Carroll.

The separate images show Nightmare drawn in an old book, courtesy of concept artist Ryan De Silva. Both pieces of concept art show a version of the character that is significantly different from its comic book counterpart, and looks more medieval than the other horror character he sees in the source material.

Derrickson wrote back in 2017 during a Q&A with fans on Twitter: “Probably a nightmare, but he’s an unruly villain. The director had previously made it clear that he tried to get the villain in the first movie as well, although studio executives They dropped the idea.
“Kevin [Feige] “He made a very compelling case,” the director told Empire. The problem with starting with Nightmare is to come up with an idea after the dream as another dimension. The movie was challenging enough. It’s already a movie full of exhibitions… Dormammu would have made more sense. And he’s the most common villain in the comics.”
The director explained in a separate interview, “We decided not to do that because this is a bit of a complex idea to try to present everything we have to offer and present the idea of nightmares itself as a dimension.” “I hope somewhere down the line we find out because I think this is a very cool concept.”
