One piece sees Luffy make his first big decision as the new emperor

One Piece ushering in a whole new era for Luffy as the final saga of the long-running series officially begins, and the latest chapter in the series has seen Luffy make his first big selection as one of the new sea lords! The Wano Country arc was exploring the fallout from the battles against Kaido and Big Mom with the latest chapter of the series, and while the latest saga began, there was still a lot to iron out from this long arc. The first was the seal of Luffy’s new promo in the seas as a whole.

One of the biggest updates to the state of the world outside of Wano was the revelation that Luffy had been named one of the new Emperors after defeating Kaido. Luffy himself has been playing the new role as he used it to get the skin of Eustass Kid in the first few chapters of the final saga so far, but the new chapter of the series has him making his first real announcement as Emperor. Now using his new position for Wano’s benefit, Momonosuke Kozuki has given the Straw Hat crew a flag to remind everyone that the island is forever under the protection of his crew.

Chapter 1057 of piece He officially ends the Wano Country arc, and with his last moments he sees Momonosuke bid farewell to Luffy and the others in tears. Before they leave, Luffy tells Momonosuke that he recognizes him as a little brother and even invites him, Kinemon, and Yamato out to sea with his crew when they are ready to be pirates. But for now, Luffy knew Momonosuke would still be the scared kid he used to be. And so he decided to give Wano a black flag to the Straw Hat crew.

Luffy declares that he must raise the flag above Wano so that everyone can see, Luffy says that if anyone messes with his crew, they choose to fight with him. Now just as we used to see Whitebeard, Big Mom, and more using their flags as a symbol of protection from emperors in the past, Luffy’s flag is now being used to protect Wano in his new position as Emperor. Luffy notices how these types of roles aren’t really his style, but that’s a natural extension of how much he’s growing towards the grand finale.

It’s probably not the only move we’ll see Luffy make as the new Emperor of the Seas, but what do you think of his announcement? What areas would you like to see provide protection to the next?
