John Boyega reflects on Lucasfilm rally behind Moses Ingram, ‘makes me feel protected’

former star Wars Actor John Boyega made no secret that he was having a rough time in the franchise while starring in star Wars sequel trilogy. Boyega’s character, renegade Stormtrooper Finn, is set to be a lead character in the new character star Wars Franchise — but there was also some ugly backlash to Star Wars that put a black character on top. Boyega was outspoken in his displeasure with the way he felt Lucasfilm had not done enough to publicly support him and/or ban him from racist trolls or even overseas markets as his face and presence in promotional materials were altered.

Unfortunately, John Boyega was not the last star Wars Actress Facing Discrimination: Boyega star Kelly Marie Tran has been bullied after her debut as Rose Tico. last serious; at recent days, Obi-Wan Kenobi The Moses Ingram star has been teased so much for her role as Detective Reva Svander (aka The Third Sister) that Lucasfilm has come out in front of her to publicly denounce toxic fans:

Lucasfilm stated during Official social media accounts. “If anyone wants to make her feel in any way unwelcome, we have only one thing to say: We resist. There are more than 20 million conscious species in the world. star Wars Galactic, don’t choose to be a racist.”

Well, John Boyega has seen the way Lucasfilm now supports his most diverse cast members, and isn’t afraid to take his (deserved) fair share of the credit:

“I am the one who brought this to the terrifying front.” Boyega . said men’s health In August, “At least people go to it now, after my time, [they’re] cool … [Lucasfilm is] You will make sure that you are well supported and at least you are [now] You go through this privilege knowing that everyone will have [your] Back. I’m glad I talked about it all at the time.”

Boyega is now celebrating how far things have come, in terms of Star Wars protecting its representatives:

“Protecting Moses Ingram makes me feel protected,” Boyega said. THR. “It makes me feel like, ‘Okay, great. I’m not the elephant in the room. Because when I started, it wasn’t really a conversation you could come up with. It was kind of, let’s just keep quiet. It wasn’t a conversation you could come up with. But now let’s see how blatant it is, let’s see Come on Ewan McGregor and support me… [it] Fulfills my time where I didn’t get support.”

It’s good to see Boyega being validated this way. The actor also touched on why he understands the sacrifices a major has to make:

“It doesn’t make me bitter at all. It makes me feel sometimes that you are that guy, and my dad taught me that. Sometimes you’re not the one who gets the blessing and sometimes you are. [biblical] Moses,” Boyega explained. You lead people to the mountain, but you see the destination. You cannot enter, you get others to enter. And from here you get your happiness.”

The star Wars The sequel trilogy with John Boyega and Obi-Wan Kenobi The series with Moses Ingram both streams on Disney+.
