Masahiro Sakurai, creator of Super Smash Bros., has launched a YouTube channel

Kirby and Super Smash Bros. Creator Masahiro Sakurai has launched his own YouTube channel! Masahiro Sakurai is one of the few video game directors who has a lot to do with the community and has become a name/face for many gamers. Although game development is filled with hundreds and even thousands of people working to bring the game to life, there is usually only one person helping to guide the vision in driving. Only a few of these game industry creators really get the proper recognition as there are no major red carpet premieres and as many newspapers as the director of a big Hollywood movie. However, Sakurai has been the face of several major updates in the Smash Bros. series.

After building a huge audience and letting people understand his personality, Masahiro Sakurai announced that he has a YouTube channel. There are already three videos on the channel, one of which is an introduction to his new content. Sakurai said he won’t be streaming games or gameplay, but will instead use the platform to talk about game development and what it takes to make the game fun. Sakurai has also been given permission to share development designs for Super Smash Bros. and design documentation, allowing a very rare behind-the-scenes look at an amazing franchise. The videos are really compelling, offering fun animated slides to highlight his points as he narrates them. For anyone looking to understand game development or maybe just enjoy something educational as well, Sakurai has already started with quite the buzz on YouTube.

As of now, it is not clear how often these videos will be uploaded, but Sakurai indicated that he plans to keep the videos for 2-5 minutes. With these short videos, it will probably be easier for him to get them out on a consistent basis. However, it is a great top behind the curtain and deserves support!
