Halo Infinite update confirms more bad news by canceling Longtime feature

infinite aura Gamers got the latest news on the state of the game and its future content this week, and while there was some good news to be shared in 343 Industries’ updates, there were some disappointing announcements as well. One such disappointment was that the collaborative split-screen campaign, a feature synonymous with the Halo experience for years, was no longer happening. The developers confirmed that the feature has been scrapped as of this week and said that the resources spent on it will be allocated elsewhere.

343 Industries Update Feed in infinite aura It is summarized in Revised roadmap For the upcoming Winter update as well as Season 3, but news of the canceled co-op experience was only mentioned in the developers video accompanying the post. Joseph Staten, Head of Creative Division infinite auraIn the video below, I talked about things in the works, things to come, and things like split screen collaborative that are not coming at all anymore.

Staten said in response to Community Manager Brian Gerrard who was talking about the studio’s priorities regarding infinite aura. “I mean, not just to follow up on this list of things that I’ve talked about that we’re starting to do, but to work on experiences that we’re not quite ready to talk about yet. We’ve had to make the decision not to ship the split-screen co-op campaign, and take the resources that we’re going to use on that. And follow up on this list and all these other things that we’ll be talking about in a matter of seconds.”

Given the speed of this comment and the fact that the split-screen co-op campaign was not mentioned again in the video, there was clearly no good way to spread this news. The rest of the video discussed plans for future updates and future contracts, among other topics.

infinite aura At one point it was confirmed that split-screen play would support players for the campaign mode, but one of the many controversies surrounding the game was that the core feature would not ship with infinite aura Instead it will be added later. It was confirmed earlier this year that matchmaking won’t be available in the co-op campaign either, so it looks like the only way to play through the campaign with a friend would be to party with someone who’s already on your friends list. This might not be a big deal to many who were already planning on doing it anyway, but it’s a very watered-down version of what players were expecting.

At least 343 Industries have shared more release windows or tight dates for things like the Forge beta as well as campaign network collaboration and mission replays. These things will come sooner rather than later depending on what’s shown in the roadmap, but Season 3 features will take longer since Season 3 isn’t slated to launch until March 2023.
