Pokimane announces that she will be stepping back from her Twitch career

Twitch streamer Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys is one of the biggest streamers on the Amazon-owned platform, but it’s going to reduce its presence there, at least in some capacity. Twitch is one of the biggest websites on the internet because it provides endless amounts of free entertainment from people all over the world. The platform has been embraced by celebrities, companies, and ordinary people, and has even allowed some users to get a job from it. This has led to some live streamers becoming millionaires, allowing them to do what some would consider their dream job by playing video games. However, it is not always as charming as it may seem.

After a long break from broadcasting, Pokimane took to her YouTube channel to talk about her feelings and outline her future as a content creator. Bokimane notes that she feels less excited about the broadcast than she initially did and that she doesn’t think it satisfies her creatively anymore. She also points out that there is a lot of pressure to keep up with the latest trends, receive constant feedback from viewers, and more, but she just doesn’t feel “emotional” anymore. As such, Pokimane said she doesn’t know how often it will stream on Twitch, but has estimated it will be around 2-3 times a week from now on. She will also double down on non-gaming content, focusing on IRL streams and posting her life on other social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok. Pokimane will still do gaming content, but it won’t necessarily be the dominant type of content on its platforms.

As of now, it looks like Pokimane will do what makes her happy instead of trying to compete directly with anyone else on Twitch. It remains to be seen how noticeable this will make for her fans, but it also speaks to the level of her success that she feels comfortable enough to have that kind of creative freedom. Whether this will inspire some other streamers to do something similar remains to be seen.

What do you think of Bokimane’s decision? Let me know in the comments or hit me up TwitterCade_Onder.
