Ben Roethlisberger picks him to start the Steelers from QB

Ben Roethlisberger moved his voice at the Pittsburgh Steelers starting a quarterback discussion.

Pittsburgh Steelers has an option to start a quarterback. They can go with Mitchell Trubesky who traveled and failed with the Chicago Bears and spent last season learning as a backup under Josh Allen. Or they can go with their shiny new body in rookie quarterback Kenny Beckett.

Muscat fans truly I want Beckett to be the midfielder in the beginning. Not only does Trubisky give a bit of a bad taste to the mouth for his poor performance as a starter for the Bears, Pickett spent his college days as a QB in Pitt, so he’s a favorite in his hometown.

But what about the question no one cared to ask… What does Ben Roethlisberger think? Big Ben, who retired after the end of last season, spent 18 years with the Steelers winning two Super Bowls and going to six Pro Bowls. He knows the organization and the way coach Mike Tomlin runs things.

Ben Roethlisberger thinks Mitchell Trubesky should start with the Pittsburgh Steelers

He talks on his new podcast (why should everyone get a podcast these days?) Voted for Mitchell Trubesky. As written by SI:

“In my opinion, I think Mitchell Trubesky is the initiator,” Roethlisberger said on the new podcast Fotbahlin. “It should start. I think he’s a maven, he’s been around for a while. It gives you, in my opinion, the best chance of winning right now.”

The Steelers seem to be heading in that direction. According to Adam Shifter, the team named Trubesky as one of their captains on Monday, effectively cementing him as the first week starter on Beckett:

Trubisky went 29-21 as a rookie in Chicago with a completion rate of 64.1 percent. The Bear went to the playoffs twice in his time in Chicago, losing on the Wild Card Tour both times.

It’s the smart choice. Give the veteran a chance to lose the job, and keep your rookie friend QB safe as he learns and prepares to take on the job later.
