Best and worst case of 2022

Welcome to our FanSided NFL 2022 preview! It’s time to take a look at our crystal football and take a look at the Baltimore Ravens’ season predictions.

The Baltimore Ravens are looking to recover after a disastrous end to the 2021 season in which they lost their last six games of the year.

The hope is that with a healthy, renewed slate, the Ravens will be able to get back into the post-season in 2022. However, this won’t be an easy path to redemption.

2021 Baltimore Ravens season review

  • 8-9 record
  • Fourth place in North Asia
  • You did not qualify for the playoffs

It’s hard to argue that the Ravens’ 2021 season didn’t live up to expectations, especially after the team started 8-3 and was the top seed in the entire AFC. Having said that, it’s also hard to argue that the team is entirely to blame for their collapse.

The Ravens’ roster was destroyed by injuries last season, more than any other NFL team. The likes of Lamar Jackson, Marcus Peters, JK Dobbins, Joss Edwards, Ronnie Stanley, and many others, missed all or large parts of the year due to injury.

When the Ravens were healthy early in the year, they looked like one of the best teams in football, but injuries took their toll. This brought the franchise to last place for the first time since 2007.

Baltimore Ravens 2022 NFL Class

  • Route 1: Kyle Hamilton, ES, Notre Dame
  • Route 1: Tyler Linderbaum, C, Iowa
  • Route 2: David Ogabo, OLB, Michigan
  • Route 3: Travis Jones, DT, Connecticut
  • Route 4: Daniel Valle, OT, Minnesota
  • Route 4: Galen Armor-Davis, CB, Alabama
  • Route 4: Charlie Kollar, TE, Iowa
  • Route 4: Jordan Stout, B., Pennsylvania
  • Route 4: Isaiah Likely, TE, Coastal Carolina
  • Route 4: Damarion Williams, CB, Houston
  • 6th Street: Tyler Badie, RB, Missouri

The Ravens added a total of 11 players in this year’s draft including six players in the fourth round alone. The early signs of the class this summer have been incredibly promising.

Kyle Hamilton and Tyler Linderbaum are expected to play iconic roles in their unit. The first appeared mostly in the segment this summer and could be an early front-runner for Defensive Rookie of the Year.

As for Linderbaum, he has struggled with a foot injury but is still expected to start the team’s first week. The Ravens are hoping for a rookie season that resembles Creed Humphrey.

David Ogabo is a pick for the future as the former Michigan star is expected to miss a large part of the 2022 season as he recovers from an Achilles rupture.

As for their other mid-round picks, the likes of Travis Jones, Jordan Stout, Isaiah Leakley and Damarion Williams appear poised for good-sized roles this season.

Summer talk was probably the one who continues to impress when given the chance. Don’t be surprised if he ends up as one of the team’s receptionists, even with Mark Andrews on board.

2022 Baltimore Ravens offense preview

  • The main off-season additions: Tyler Linderbaum, Morgan Moses, Isaiah probably
  • The largest factor of X: Rashid Bateman
  • wheel hum: left guard

The Ravens’ attack extends through Lamar Jackson, and that will largely be the case in 2022. The team will be hoping to see Jackson back to his level in early 2021 after what appeared to be a lull in the middle of the season.

He’ll get more help this time around, at least as far as the offensive line is concerned. Linderbaum and Morgan Moses help solidify a unit that has struggled at times last year. Moses, in particular, should be a huge promotion over Alejandro Villanueva.

Marquis Brown’s loss cannot be taken lightly, though the Ravens are hoping to see sophomore Rachod Bateman step up and fill his boots. The Ravens believe that Batman could be WR1 in the future and that a leap from him in 2022 would go a long way toward being considered a serious unit crime.

As far as weaknesses are concerned, it’s easy to point the finger at the wide receiver corps, but I went in a different direction and highlighted the hole in the left guard.

The Ravens had an open competition between Ben Powers, Tyre Phillips and Ben Cleveland this summer with Powers and Phillips the presumptive nominees. Regardless of who starts, it’s safe to say this position will be the weakest up front.

Baltimore Ravens defense preview for 2022

  • The main off-season additions
    • Michael Pierce,
    • Kyle Hamilton, S
    • Marcus Williams, CB
    • Kyle Fuller, CB
  • The largest factor of X: Odavi Awa
  • wheel hum: Patrick Quinn and the linebacker

In addition to the earnings of Marlon Humphrey and Marcus Peters, the Ravens have also added former Saints star Marcus Williams, Kyle Hamilton, and Kyle Fuller to the high school that looks like one of the best in the NFL on paper.

Williams, Hamilton and Chuck Clarke give the Ravens perhaps the deepest safety room in the league while Fuller, when paired with Humphrey and Peters, gives the team a very powerful hat-trick.

This minor segment will be the backbone of the team’s defensive success as there are some concerns about the front seven, particularly when it comes to the quarterbacks – both at home and abroad.

The Ravens are hoping to see a jump in year two from former first-round pick Odafe Oweh this season. Oweh will be tasked with leading an unproven fast passing team and could be considered one of the X-Factors’ biggest players in defense.

One of the players who will be under the microscope this season is linebacker Patrick Quinn. Quinn is entering his third year in the NFL and will be looking to live up to the high expectations the team placed on him when they drafted him to 28th overall a few years ago.

Baltimore Ravens 2022 Coaching Staff Overview

  • Coach: John Harbo
  • About. coordinator: Greg Roman
  • Dave. coordinator: Mike McDonald
  • The 2023 coach candidate: Greg Roman

The Ravens have one of the most respected coaching staff in the NFL led by one of the league’s longest-serving coaches, John Harbo.

Harbaugh is the one who created what we now know as the Ravens culture which is one of the biggest reasons why the franchise has been so competitive as long as it has lasted.

Offensive coordinator Greg Roman will be under tremendous pressure in 2021 after the veteran coach was criticized for his scheme in recent years. If crime is taken one step further, Roman may be looking for work.

The Ravens also brought back former assistant coach Mike McDonald this off-season to replace Wink Martindale as the team’s new defensive coordinator. MacDonald spent a year in Michigan under Jim Harbaugh and came back with a scheme likely very similar to that run by Martindale.

Ravens fans won’t be happy with my selection of a potential future coach candidate, but Roman is the most reasonable choice. If the Ravens attack excels in 2022 and Lamar Jackson puts together another MVP-like campaign, then teams will come calling for the mastermind behind the unit.

MacDonald is still too young and too new to receive much coaching fanfare and there was no obvious assistant to be picked apart from perhaps assistant coach and defensive line coach Anthony Weaver.

Watch the 2022 Baltimore Ravens Awards

Any team with Lamar Jackson always has the chance to turn in their best player, and that’s been the case with the Ravens this season. Other potential award winners include Kyle Hamilton for MVP in the league, J.K. Dobbins for MVP Return, and even John Harbaugh shouting out as the best coach in the league.

Lamar Jackson, best player

During the first month or two of the 2021 season, Lamar Jackson was legitimately in the MVP conversation and arguably the early favorite. That was before injuries ravaged him and resulted in him playing the former best player in the worst football of his career.

For Jackson to be MVP this season, they’ll need him to play like Jackson at the start of the season a year ago. We know he can do it – we’ve seen it before.

JK Dobbins, Back Player of the Year

Given how many players the Ravens have come back from with major injuries, it would be surprising if the team didn’t have at least one player in the race for the best player to come back at the end of the year.

While we can go with a few different guys here, JK Dobbins is the best. For the third year in a row, he is looking to return with a vengeance after losing his third-year NFL season to a rupture in the AFC Champions League.

Many believe that Dobbins could have been a superstar of the last year. If he comes back healthy this season, there’s no reason he can’t move this surprising year to 2022.

John Harbaugh, Coach of the Year

John Harbaugh is one of the longest-serving and most respected coaches in the NFL, so it’s always fair to give him a shout-out for Coach of the Year.

The 59-year-old won the award again in 2019 after leading his team to a record 14-2 and could come back again if the Ravens finish as one of the top teams in the league.

Although he’s not the award’s favorite, he definitely belongs in the conversation.

Biggest game on the Baltimore Ravens schedule in 2022

It’s hard to single out a single game on the Ravens’ schedule as “the biggest,” but I’d go with a game that’s very likely to have big watershed effects: Week 18 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Ravens and Bengal are likely to be the favorites to win the 2022 North Asian Cup and play each other in the last game of the season. The road trip to Cincinnati will never be easy and the Ravens will be looking for revenge after last season’s disappointments against the Bengals.

A battle between the top two teams in the division in the final week of the season? It seems to me that football cannot be missed.

Baltimore Ravens season prediction: Best case scenario

The Ravens enter this year as competitors for the Black Horses in the Super Bowl, and if all goes well for the team, they could finish the season completely as NFL champions.

It will require Lamar Jackson to return to his best player form, and players like JK Dobbins and Rashid Bateman to step up to attack alongside Mark Andrews, and defense live up to the hype.

This Ravens roster is good enough to run in the Super Bowl if there are a few breaks. And if Jackson wants them to win as he’s done so often throughout his career, the sky really is the limit.

Baltimore Ravens season prediction: Worst-case scenario

On the other end of the spectrum, what happens if all goes well in crows? It will be difficult for the team to finish anything worse than last year, but a similar streak of misfortune can do so.

Injuries to the likes of Lamar Jackson, Mark Andrews, or any number of important players could undermine the Ravens’ hopes of a deep playoff.

Or, assuming full health, perhaps picking up where he left off mid-last season and failing to live up to expectations, given his contract status on hold, would leave both sides in a tight spot.

This Ravens roster is still good enough that it’s hard to see it quite as low, but a record of 7-10 or 8-9 seems reasonable if things go wrong.

The Baltimore Ravens’ 2022 season predictions

  • 6-11 record
  • 1st place in AFC East
  • Interval prediction: Losing the AFC Divisional Round

I think the Ravens are the best team in North Asia, on paper at least. The Bengals seem worthy of a regression after receiving some good fortune last season, and the Browns and Steelers just don’t have the firepower to keep up.

North Asia could turn to ravens and bengals, and the slight superiority was given to Baltimore. The defense should be improved a lot while the attack has enough star power to make some serious noise.

The playoffs are where things get tricky. The 11-6 record likely won’t be enough to earn the top seed and first round meaning the Ravens will have to play this weekend.

I have the Ravens win the match before they fail again in the AFC group stage. This is where Baltimores can hit hard as the Buffalo Bills or the Kansas City Chiefs. All bets are off if this happens.

In fact, any team that ends with 11 wins has a chance of winning it all. Anticipating the playoffs is often a futile effort. However, if you’re betting on it, that sounds like a reasonable result for the team this season.
