Best and worst case scenario for 2022

Welcome to our FanSided NFL 2022 preview! Time to take a look at our crystal football and take a look at the Houston Texans season predictions.

It’s an NFL franchise in the midst of some dark times. As a reminder, the Houston Texans won six South Asian titles in the nine-year period from 2011-19. Now the club has had a different fourth coach since 2020. Bill O’Brien didn’t succeed during his seventh year and temporarily gave way to Romeo Crenell. David Culley was hired in 2021 and now Lovie Smith is based in Houston.

At the end of last season, the Texans had plenty of departures as well as arrivals and that lacked continuity – something that would eventually bleed out on the field. The results were 4-13 and 3rd place respectively in 3rd place in South Asia. Smith was part of that team in 2021 as a defensive coordinator. But this was another year of many changes. But the Texans added some pieces to the draft.

Houston Texans 2021 season review

  • 2021 record: 4-13
  • Position in South Asia: 3rd place
  • Failed to qualify for the playoffs

There were expectations of death surrounding a team that had already fallen to 4-12 after winning the AFC South with a record 10-6 the previous season. Defensive end JJ Watt asked for his release and got it – signing with the Arizona Cardinals. New manager David Cooley Worth was a club that during the holiday period had seen many players come and go.

Deshaun Watson, a three-time Pro Bowl quarterback (who led the NFL in passing yards in 2020), decided he no longer wanted to play football with the organization. The starter of the week behind center was well-traveled Tyrod Taylor, who started the first two games and will make a comeback mid-season. Cooley Club started the season by defeating Jacksonville.

The team would then embark on an eight-game losing streak and score a total of 91 points in those competitions. To their credit, however, there was no withdrawal at this reconstituted club. Texans pulled off an amazing upset for the Titans in Nashville in November. There will be a victory over the talented Chargers in Week 16. However, Houston won only four games for the second year in a row.

Houston Texans NFL Draft Class

  • Route 1: Derek Stingley, CB/LSU
  • Route 1: Kenyon Green, J/Texas A&M
  • Route 2: Galen Peter, S/Baylor
  • Route 2: John Mitchie, WR/Alabama
  • Route 3: Christian Harris, LB/Alabama
  • Route 4: Dameon Pierce, RB/Florida
  • 5th Street: Thomas Booker, DT/Stanford
  • Route 5: Tegan-Kituriano, TE/Oregon
  • Route 6: Austin Diculos, OT/LSU

It’s an organization that has done away with its share of first-round picks in recent years. Prior to this year’s draft, Texans had only picked one player in the first round since 2018. This would be Alabama State’s showdown to Titus Howard three years ago. But things were much different last April as the organization had the third and 15th overall picks in this year’s NFL Draft.

The talented LSU Cornerback franchisee chose Derek Stingley Jr. With this initial selection he then took up the offensive line by capturing Texas A&M guard Kenyon Green. This pair of top players, along with round two safety Jalen Piter and round four Dameon Pierce, are expected to be in the starting lineup when the Texans host the Colts in week one.

Texas crime preview for the 2022 season

  • The main off-season additions
    • RB Damon Pierce
    • JAJ Kan
    • J. Kenyon Green
  • The largest factor of X: QB Davis Mills
  • wheel hum: RB Rex Burkhead

New head coach Luffy Smith and offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton are counting on the fact that Davis Mills showed enough during his rookie season one season to take a step forward in his sophomore year. The 2021 third round was selected by Stanford University in 13 games and 11 games. He hit 66.8 percent of his passes, throwing 16 TD passes into 10 interceptions.

Mills took his block but this was a gunless team. When the smoke cleared, the Texans finished dead last in the league in a full attack and rushing yards while only two teams scored fewer points. At the moment, it’s hard to tell if the talent on this side of the ball has improved dramatically. Dameon Pierce’s rookie run should have an immediate impact.

Veteran Branden Cox is the team’s best offensive player. But could the streak be better than it was a year ago? There are new guards on the rugged AJ Cann – via the Jaguars – and rookie Kenyon Green. This can be a very improved area for the team. A year ago, the Texans finished dead last in the league in rushing yards per game, and they let in a disappointing 44 sacks.

Texas defense preview for the 2022 season

  • The main off-season additions
    • Di Mario Addison
    • CB Derek Stingley Jr.
    • Q Galen Peter
  • The largest factor of X: Jerry Hughes
  • wheel hum: CB Stephen Nelson

Longtime coach Luffy Smith was the team’s defensive coordinator in 2021 who inherited a unit that allowed the third-most yards in the league and the most impulsive yards in the NFL the previous year. General Manager Nick Caserio has brought in a slew of new faces in hopes of reversing the misfortunes of a unit that has been sliding steadily since 2019. But that hasn’t happened.

Smith is now looking to strengthen the team that has allowed the second-most total yards and sprint distances per game before a season. Texans surrendered in 52 offensive landings – 25 on the ground and 27 in the air. And this was despite the fact that Houston came up with a respectable 25 meals. Passing dash (32 sacks) needed to address this off-season.

Hence the defensive additions ending Mario Addison (67 functional sacks) and Jerry Hughes (58 functional sacks), both members of the Buffalo Bills last season. The secondary should benefit from more pressure via these veterans. This defensive back court is enjoying several new appearances with starters Derek Stingley Jr and Galen Peter as well as free-agent corner back Stephen Nelson.

Overview of the coaching staff in Houston, Texas

  • Coach: Luffy Smith
  • About. coordinator: Babe Hamilton
  • Dave. coordinator: Luffy Smith
  • The 2023 coach candidate: Babe Hamilton

It is safe to say that Luffy Smith has an impressive football resume. The missionary defensive coach led the Chicago Bears to appear at Super Bowl LI as their head coach. There was two years as head coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and a year ago he was the defensive coordinator for Texas State. He will be doing double duty for this franchise this season.

Rolling back the return of Dameon Pierce, a fourth-round pick from the University of Florida in April, may come as a pleasant surprise. And a big year from the previous Gator could earn him some NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year votes.

Brandin Cox, MVP

The New Orleans Saints’ previous first-round draft was somewhat underappreciated. And that may be due to the fact that he has been dealt a few times and has been the subject of business talks in this off season. He came in a season in which he had 90 passes for 1,037 yards and six touchdowns. Midfielder Davis Mills will rely on him heavily in the second year.

Galen Peter, Defensive Rookie of the Year

Texans used the third overall pick in the April draft to snatch talented quarterback Derek Stanley Jr. from LSU. But that safety from Baylor University showed his great playing potential during his career with the Bears. He came off an impressive campaign in 2021 in which he finished 75 tackles, 3.5 sacks, a pair of ball interceptions, three break-backs and seven defensive passes.

Damon Pierce, Offensive Rookie of the Year

One of the best additions to the Texas season was the return of Marlon Mack from the Colts. The team had hoped he could bolster the NFL’s worst ground attack in 2021. But he was beaten up by rookie Damon Pierce and ended up being released. He finished with a modest 2,228 yards of melee and 28 touchdowns in Florida. But 16 of those scores came in 2021.

The biggest game in the Houston Texans schedule

Texas starts the season by hosting the Colts and ends the year with a travel to Indianapolis. The team also plays four of its first six games on the road, including a visit to Chicago in Week 3. That’s what makes an interesting afternoon for former Bears coach Luffy Smith. But the team hosts the Philadelphia Eagles Thursday night in week nine. Is this club ready for prime time?

Houston Texans season prediction: Best case scenario

It’s interesting to note that while the Texans won only four games in 2021, they broke even inside the Division (3-3). This included a sweep of Jaguar cars. The Luffy Smith club faces both of its South Asian rivals for the first eight weeks – the Colts (week 1) and the Titans (week eight) at home. If the club manages to create a turmoil (or two), it may not be a disastrous year. Wise thinking?

Houston Texans season prediction: worst case scenario

This is the team that has held 8-25 records in the last two seasons. Five of those victories came within the class. This means that Texas is only 3-18 versus the rest of the league during that period. And if this miserable trend continues, the club is looking forward to a third losing campaign in a row. Finally, it looks like 2022 could be a year of learning in Houston.

Predict the Houston Texans season in 2022

  • record 5-12
  • 4th place in South Asia
  • Interval prediction: You will not qualify

The Texans will be an improved soccer team this season, but it won’t be reflected in their winning and losing record. The club has its flaws in the defensive trenches that have been a problem for this club in recent years. Defensively, Luffy Smith will try to do his magic as head coach and defensive coordinator. Meanwhile, keeping an eye on rookie Dameon Pierce, it will be interesting to see if quarterback Davis Mills takes a step forward in his second season in the NFL. There is still a long way to go here although there are some promising young players on the roster.
