When the announcement hit the press, Kendrick couldn’t hide her excitement about her directorial debut with the upcoming crime thriller. In her words:

I loved this script from the moment I read it. And while I was thrilled to have played Cheryl’s character, I felt so connected to the story, tone, and themes of sex and intimacy that when I had the opportunity to direct the movie, I jumped at it. It looks like it’s meant to be.
