Bachelorette 2022 recap: Fantasy suite dates take a dramatic turn!

This week on The Bachelorette, Gabe and Rachel had their highly anticipated dates in the fantasy suite. Some went exactly as you think, while others took an unexpected turn.

Overnight date Eric and Gabe

The couple reflects on the history of their hometown while relaxing by a body of water in the middle of the jungle in Mexico. Eric says it was difficult to leave his father due to his current health but that his family was “obsessed” with Gabe.

When Gabe and Eric have a chance to stay together in the imaginary suite, they seize the opportunity. In the end, Eric tells Gabe that he loves her and that he doesn’t want to leave her without her by his side. Unfortunately, Eric is increasingly bothered by the fact that there are still two other people who are likely to end up with Gabe. Imagine getting annoyed with your girlfriend dating other men? Wait… I think he might be onto something here.

Avene and Rachel’s fantasy suite date

Rachel says she can see life with Avene but has to deal with tough questions. I asked him if he could see himself in a few weeks. To Rachel’s happiness, Avene says yes – he’s 100% ready. She then proceeds to tell him that she is falling in love with him and that he is the “perfect package”.

The couple stays together all night in the fantasy suite and they both smile in the morning. Could Avene be the best for her?

Overnight date between Tino and Rachel

After Tino’s rocky hometown history, Rachel really wants the day to go well. She tells Tino that she is afraid to move forward with him because his family did not like her. She also asks if he will be able to move forward with her without his family’s approval. He replied that it probably wouldn’t be overnight (side note: judging by the history of their hometown, I don’t think their approval will come by the end of this general) But they will eventually join.

Tino tells Rachel he loves her, and Rachel says she loves him too. The pair stay together overnight in the fantasy suite, and all worries about the Tino family’s approval are forgotten (for now).

Johnny and Gabe’s history has been shortened

The day starts off well with Gabby and Johnny drinking champagne on a boat and discussing how fast time has gone by. Gabe says she hopes for the future with him, but those hopes were quickly dashed when I asked him how he felt about the engagement at the end of their “journey.”

Johnny dances around the question, but eventually tells Gabe that he won’t feel ready to propose in just a week. As hard as it is, the couple says goodbye because they want different things and are in different places in their lives.

Eric starts to fall apart

Reeling from her breakup with Johnny, Gabe receives a message from Eric saying he needs to talk to her. He began paraphrasing a lot of what they apparently talked about off-camera in the fantasy suite, saying that he feels like Gabe is cheating by going on other date nights that week.

Although Eric repeats that he loves her and is simply afraid to lose her, Gabe feels as though he is pressuring her to make a decision.

Jason and Gaby’s “non-magical” suite date

Gabe and Jason’s date got off to a good start as the pair played a friendly game of tennis and talked about their hometown date. Although the day got off to a good start, Jason said he’s not ready in terms of getting involved and feels like Gabe doesn’t really know who he is. She is very upset about this news because she previously told us that she is really falling in love with Jason.

The couple decided to talk about things – away from all the cameras – during the night part of the evening. After this difficult conversation, we find out that they decided to end the relationship.

Zach and Rachel’s fantasy suite date

The overnight season deadline is gearing up to be a great date as Zach and Rachel enjoy a fun day of drinking and dancing. They decide to stay together as a couple in a fantasy suite, but that’s where things take a turn.

We found out that their overnight date was far from unimaginable, making Zach feel like Rachel might have been standing up front this whole time. Looking to our host, Jesse Palmer, for advice.

Zach told Jesse that he was shocked and that once the cameras were away, Rachel would act differently. He said she was very worried about Zach’s age and wondered if he was really ready to get involved. You can watch Zach’s conversation with Jesse in the video player above.

Gabe tells Eric how you really feel

Meanwhile, Gabe decides she needs to tell Eric how she really feels. She confessed her love to him and told him that he was the only man left. Eric is thrilled to hear this, and the couple shares a warm moment.

rose party

Finally, we’re at the rose party, but this time it’s Rachel and her remaining men: Tino, Avene, and Zack. Before you begin, Zach pulls Rachel aside to speak.

Instead of seeing the fallout from this intense showdown, we’re back in an empty studio in Los Angeles with Jesse Palmer. It gives the audience a ominous warning about the events that are about to unfold, but we’ll have to wait until next week to see what happens.

This is set to be the most dramatic season finale of “The Bachelorette” ever. Tune in next week for the first episode of ABC’s two-night closing event!
