Independence Walker gets a new poster

The CW released a new poster for Independence Walker, the forthcoming introduction to Jared Padalecki’s Walker. The new poster shows Katherine McNamara’s Abby Walker alongside Matt Barr’s Hoyt Rawlings and teases that the series will be a bit different from the West some viewers have been expecting. The poster bears the slogan “Old West. New Rules” with the series premiere date Thursday, October 6th. You can check out the poster for yourself below.

“It’s not the West you’d expect,” McNamara previously said. “Every character is not what it seems on the surface. It has the feel and nostalgia of a Western, but it’s a very modern story with characters going through very cool real things.”

“The boundaries were really very diverse and weird, all sorts of things,” Findlay said. “You can’t often see that because history is written by white men. It’s really great to be on the cast representing more of a landscape reality at a time when so many people are coming together and struggling to survive.”

in Independence WalkerAbby Walker (McNamara), a wealthy and hard-headed Bostonian husband is murdered before her eyes during their journey west. After crossing paths with Calian (Justin Johnson-Cortez), a curious Apache tracker, Abby arrives in Independence, Texas where she meets a diverse and eclectic population who escape their pasts, chase their dreams, and keep their secrets, including Kate Carver (Katie Findlay), a comic dancer. A themed perhaps very interested in the origins of Abe, and Kai (Lawrence Cao), an affectionate Chinese immigrant who runs a local restaurant/laundry and offers friendship with Abe without an agenda.

Abby also bumps into Hoyt Rawlings (Matt Barr), a rogue slipper, thief, and con artist with a heart drenched gold, who quickly looks at Abby as a sign to turn the tables on him. In her quest for justice for her husband, Abe meets the noble Independence Police Deputy Chief, Augustus (Philemon Chambers) and his new boss, Sheriff Tom Davidson (Greg Hovannisian) who she has reason to believe is a really bad guy. Soon, Abby and Hoyt find themselves precariously aligned, and both seek to uncover the truth about the identity of Abe’s husband’s killer, and vow to save Independence – a thriving frontier town where nothing is as it seems. A new trailer for the series was released recently and you can check it out here.
