There was a lot of talk about Tiffany Haddish and comedian Aries Spears this week after a lawsuit accusing the two of grooming and harassment was dropped. The allegations arose from working with minors in a comedy skit that was later posted on Funny or Die. (Although Funny or Die made it clear that they were unrelated to the sitcom setting, calling it “disgusting”) Now Spears has broken his silence about the upcoming legal action.
Aries Spears is ½ of the host duo Spears and Steinberg Audio notation. The comedian dropped a teaser for the episode on social media in which he and his podcast partner, Andy Steinberg, talked about their respective weeks. Andy didn’t do too badly, but Spears apparently felt the need to address the elephant in the room, and did so:
His comments echoed those of the other celebrity mentioned in the lawsuit, Tiffany Haddish, who previously said she was “relieved” by this video and that the lawsuit had finally paid off, noting that she was “tired of blackmail” over the comic drawing. You can see full Aries Spears comments below.
How Tiffany Haddish responded to the grooming lawsuit
Tiffany Haddish has talked about the lawsuit that went down the pipeline as well, and she cuts a similar line to what Aries Spears said in his comments. But Haddish was outspoken about his “deep regret” about what was in the diagram and what happened next.
When the lawsuit was filed, it alleged that two individuals known as Jane Doe (22) and John Doe (15) were “prepared” into “filming child sexually illustrated pornographic scenes”. Tiffany Haddish’s attorney, Andrew Brettler, named the mother in the lawsuit, Teresa Morris, and said she had been “trying to confirm these false allegations for years.” He also mentioned that this had been brought up previously with other attorneys, all of whom had previously dropped the case before it became the lawsuit we’ve heard about in the past few days.
Haddish had a seemingly difficult year after separating from her partner Common at the end of 2021 and speaking openly about DUI later. Haddish’s best movies aren’t behind her or anything else, as she has plenty of upcoming projects, including haunted palace Movie. However, this suit appears to be coming during a transitional period for the actress.
It is likely that more details of this case will be revealed in the following weeks, although lawsuits like this are often resolved without reaching the courtroom. (Amber Heard, Johnny Depp, and Brouhaha unsealed documents were out of the ordinary.) We’ll keep you updated either way.
