Princeton University will offer free tuition to families making less than $100,000 in 2023 school year!

Princeton, NJ – Princeton University will expand its financial program by offering free tuition to eligible students.

Most families who earn up to $100,000 a year will pay nothing for classes beginning in 2023.

Families with incomes greater than $100,000 will still qualify for assistance, with most additional scholarships going to families earning less than $150,000 and families with multiple children in college.

The Extended Scholarship Program Part of Princeton’s effort to be more inclusive.

Previously, the annual income level was set at a maximum of $65,000 per year for families.

Princeton University was one of the first universities in the country to eliminate loans from its financial aid packages in 2001. Since then, more than 10,000 undergraduate students have graduated with full tuition-paying scholarships.

“One of the defining values at Princeton is our commitment to ensuring that talented students of all backgrounds can not only afford a Princeton education, but can thrive on our campus and in the world beyond,” said President Christopher Isgruber. “These improvements to our aid packages, made possible by the continued generosity of our alumni and friends, will enhance students’ experiences during their time at Princeton and their choices and impact after they graduate.”

New financial aid policies will come into effect for all undergraduate students starting in the fall of 2023.

Under the new policies, families with salaries under $100,000 will pay nothing for tuition or housing and food. More than 25% of students are expected to receive this level of assistance.

The university will also cancel the $3,500 student contribution, which is usually earned through work on a campus job and summer savings.

The hope of canceling the contribution is to allow more students to travel abroad and pursue other curricular activities during the summer and academic year.

Students can also apply for a personal and yearbook allowance of up to $4,050 per academic year.
