Avengers Secret Wars: Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart ‘in talks to re-enact X-Men in MCU’ | movies | entertainment

After Fox’s merger with Disney, the rights to the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool went to Marvel Studios. Fans rejoiced when Sir Patrick Stewart played a different role of Professor X from Earth-838 in Doctor Strange in Multiverse of Madness, and now it looks like that wasn’t the last we see.

82-year-old Charles Xavier is killed again in Doctor Strange 2, but with variants across the Marvel multiverse, he can return as he pleases.

Now Giant Freakin Robot’s reliable and proven sources claim Stewart is in talks to have Ryan Reynolds appear in the MCU in Deadpool 3.

Given that James McAvoy’s younger version of Professor X appeared in Deadpool 2, this seems a lot in the realm of possibilities and we wouldn’t be surprised if the older actor appeared in Avengers Secret Wars as well. After all, there is a different report that claims exactly that to Sir Ian McKellen Magneto.

That’s right, the same outlet claims that McKellen will reprise the character of the X-Men in Avengers Secret Wars.

Again, this makes sense because the original comic book story sees the Marvel multiverse clash.

So not only did we get to see the 83-year-old Lord of the Rings actor playing Magneto’s win but also, this report claims, his younger version portrayed by Michael Fassbender.

There’s even been grumbling that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine could be resurrected as a posthumous variant of Logan in Avengers Secret Wars, too.

Among other recent rumors, Nicolas Cage has reprised Ghost Rider from the Fox films. And of course, variants or time travel versions of Chris Evans’ Captain America and Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man. With the Marvel multiverse open, everything is now possible for the MCU.

Avengers Secret Wars will hit cinemas on November 7, 2025 and Avengers The Kang Dynasty will follow on May 2, 2025.
