‘Indiana Jones 5’: Harrison Ford shows new footage at D23

The king of adventure is back again.

“Indiana Jones 5” premiered its first trailer on Saturday during the D23 Expo. Although not posted online, Harrison Ford appeared on stage to talk about the footage, and was joined by director James Mangold and co-star Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

“Thank you for making these films such an amazing experience for all of us,” he said, looking very emotional. “I am very proud to say that this is great. [Points at Waller-Bridge] This is one of the reasons.”

“The Indiana Jones movies are about fantasy and mystery, but they’re also about the heart,” he continued. “We have a really great story to tell as well as a movie that will impress you.”

Ford also hinted that this was the last time in the role, saying, “Here it is. I won’t fall for you again. But thank you very much.”

Waller-Bridge also shared her excitement, saying, “I spent the time of my life making this movie. I feel so lucky to keep up with this guy. [points at Ford] It is exhaust. “

While the plot has been largely kept secret thus far, the latest trailer gives fans their first real look at Indy Ford’s return to action. The classic character was last seen on screen 14 years ago with “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”. Ford was 64 when “Crystal Skull” was released, and he’s now 80, so it seems there is no age barrier that can stop the world’s greatest archaeologist.

Besides Ford, there are newcomers to the Phoebe Waller-Bridge series, Mads Mikkelsen, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Thomas Kretschmann and Antonio Banderas.

The film marks the first time that acclaimed director Steven Spielberg has not directed a part in the series. While Spielberg remained as a working producer, “Indiana Jones 5” was directed by James Mangold (“Logan”, “Ford vs. Ferrari”). According to Holbrook, fans have no reason to worry about changing the output.

Holbrook once said, “A man can’t make a bad movie.” diverse. “He’s very precise in what he does.”

John Williams also returns to compose the score for the film. In early September, Williams gave viewers at the Hollywood Bowl a taste of the soundtrack, introducing a new theme called “Helena’s Theme.” The title of the track refers to the character Waller-Bridge in the film, which he described as “an adventurer, and also a fatal woman… It’s so many things… She has a kind of lyrical music, like an old movie star.”

“Indiana Jones 5” is currently set for a release date of June 30, 2023.
