D23 Expo: Indiana Jones, Black Panther take spotlight at day 2 of Disney expo!

Anaheim, California – Emotional Harrison Ford has appeared alongside a new trailer for the fifth Indiana Jones movie, in which members of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever show footage from the upcoming sequel, and trailers and details from Star Wars’ growing TV presence have been revealed. Galaxy on Saturday at D23 Expo.

An arena-sized audience gave Ford, co-stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge and director James Mangold a standing ovation after the trailer was shown at a presentation from Disney’s Marvel, Lucasfilm and 20th Century Studios departments at the festival at the Anaheim Convention Center, adjacent to Disneyland.

“Thank you for making these films such an amazing experience for all of us,” said Ford, who is usually jaded and choked at times. “I’m very proud to say that’s great.”

He pointed to Waller-Bridge and said, “That’s one of the reasons.”

The 80-year-old suggested that this would be the last time he would wear the hat and grab the whip of one of the two people who made him famous.

“This is it,” he said, as shouts of “no” came from the crowd. “I will never fall for you again.”

Waller-Bridge, 37, said Ford showed no signs of slowing down, saying “I’ve spent time making this movie” and “keeping up with this guy is exhausting.”

The trailer shows Ford breaking that whip in front of a group of heavily armed henchmen with Waller Bridge at his side.

The film, whose title has not yet been announced, is scheduled for release on June 30, 2023. It stars Mads Mikkelsen, Toby Jones, and Antonio Banderas, and is the first in the franchise not directed by Steven Spielberg.

Angela Bassett and Winston Duke were among the cast members who starred in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” which is set to release on November 11.

The sequence shows a team trying to steal some of the nation’s precious vibranium in Wakanda, and the Wakandan team beating them up.

It was not clear how the film would deal with the death of first movie star Chadwick Boseman, who died of prostate cancer in 2020.

But the stills acknowledge that his character T’Challa is dead, and suggests that his sister Shurey, played by Letitia Wright, may be the next Black Panther.

“We had to meet his level of excellence, and we did,” Bassett said.

Neither the “Indiana Jones” trailer nor the “Black Panther” footage was released outside the conference hall.

Marvel also announced the cast members for the upcoming fifth phase of its cinematic universe, “Captain America: New World Order” and “Thunderbolts.”

Anthony Mackie will take on the familiar shield as Captain America in the film due for release in May 2024, as he did at the end of the TV series The Hawk and the Winter Soldier, and will be joined by Tim Blake Nelson as the central villain commanding. Danny Ramirez and Shira Haas will play the protagonists alongside Mackie.

Marvel’s team of anti-heroes will include “Thunderbolts” as vengeful Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as The Winter Soldier, and David Harbor as Red Guardian. Wyatt Russell and Julia Louis-Dreyfus also appear in the film scheduled for release in July 2024.

Pedro Pascal and the “The Mandalorian” crew revealed a new trailer and details for the series’ third season, and Diego Luna has done the same for the upcoming “Andre” series as Lucasfilm and the “Star Wars” galaxy deepen their TV presence without big screens in sight.

“You’re no longer a Mandalorian,” said main character Pascal in the new season trailer, a punishment for taking off his helmet and showing his face.

The trailer shows the Mandalorian and his little friend Yoda Grogo as they blast through space, and suggests a growing role for “Battlestar Galactica” star Katee Sackhoff and her character Bo-Katan Kryze, who debuted in Season 2.

Carl Weathers and Giancarlo will reprise their roles, and “Back to the Future” star Christopher Lloyd will join the cast. The show is scheduled to start in February.

In a different galaxy of Lucasfilm, a trailer for the upcoming TV series “Willow,” based on Ron Howard’s 1988 fantasy film, was revealed. Christian Slater was announced as a cast member, and he went live to talk about it.

“I love fantasy and sci-fi,” Slater said, “just being a part of this show was, I’ll be honest with you, it was an absolute dream come true.” “This was a very interesting character.”

The character is only described as someone who helps with the search and is a friend of Madmartigan, the rogue adventurer played by Val Kilmer in the film.

The trailer brings epic echoes of “Lord of the Rings,” where original “Willow” actor Warwick Davis leads a group of adventurous teens in cloaks on a magical mission.

All shows will be streamed on Disney+.
