The co-creator of Rick and Morty sets the stage for further exploration of Rick’s origin in the future of the series! After many years of guessing and waiting, the series’ fifth season finale gave fans the full original story of Rick C-137. It raised all kinds of questions for the future too, and some of those ended up being answered in the first episode of Season 6. But while we’ve been told the entire origin story, it looks like there’s still a lot more fans might realize.
Because while we’ve been told Rick’s origin story through implanted flashbacks, and we’ve come up with Rick Prime’s relationship to it, it’s not fully operational yet. We still haven’t gotten Rick’s full perspective through it all, and that’s a thing Rick and Morty Dan Harmon, co-creator of the series, will get more excitement going forward. We may have seen it, but according to the creator, “there’s definitely a lot…”
Talk to a polygon about Rick and Morty Season 6’s additions to Rick’s origin story, series co-creator Dan Harmon revealed that there are still more layers, “there’s a lot of story,” Harmon began. “But I’m very comfortable saying I don’t like being shy, and in cases where we’re vague, we always say we’re vague.” Continuing on with the fact that the original banter version of Rick’s origin is finally becoming the real thing, Harmon quipped that all of these looks at the original didn’t give us the full picture yet.
It should be noted that Harmon quipped that we might actually spend some time on the origin story in the future which could add more clues, “Surely there is a lot more to the story we just visually Watch it all unfold. As the series continues to embody Rick C-137 and his relationship with his current family in each new season of the series, this could end up being one of the many threads we see materializing over the course of many episodes to come.
