A bloody war that lasted for a thousand years broke out long before thought

Bleach: A bloody war of a thousand years looms large, and it would be easy to say fans are elated. Fans have waited a decade for the series to return, after all. Finally, Ichigo Kurosaki is about to tackle the latest manga work where the original anime never reached. And despite the long wait for a comeback, it turns out Studio Pierrot started working on this project method before anyone thought.

The recognition came from a recent Bleach event in Japan where fans were able to catch its first episodes early. The theatrical installment was also released with some behind-the-scenes details about the comeback, and the Japanese voice cast appeared. It was there that Fumiko Orikasa talked about the new series, and the actress behind Rukia admitted that the project started years ago.

Specifically, Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War started at Studio Pierrot in 2017. The project started after Tite Kubo finished the manga. This means that the anime has been in the works for at least five years between development and production. And despite scheduling an epidemic, Ichigo made it to the end.

You can imagine how surprised fans were to hear about this update because Bleach’s return wasn’t announced until late 2021. Now, we know the project is coming, and it’ll be here in just a matter of weeks. Bleach: The Thousand Years of Blood War is expected to decline on October 10th, and Viz Media has confirmed that simulcasting will begin at that time as well. At this time, no streaming service has announced their licensing of the series.
