They were all in tears at the end, but it was clearly not out of sadness or frustration. When they spoke with CinemaBlend and other outlets after their performance, I noticed that their emotions managed to make many who were watching (including me) a little emotional, and Danica Hart replied:

Tria Swindell agreed, saying it “always makes me feel so much better knowing we weren’t crying alone.” None of the judges cried, but they were definitely excited. Sofia Vergara congratulated them for their “honest” performance, and Simon Cowell specifically noted that the chorus was beautiful. He stated that some of the singing was “cut off by nerves”, but he was glad they did what they did. Howie Mandel also noted that their emotions affected their vocals, but they still had compliments to the group.
Based on the reactions from the audience in the live stage, their emotions didn’t hurt the performance at all, and I would say it made them appear more real. When I asked them to share what was going through their heads when they got such a strong reaction from the audience, Devynn Hart shared:
I think since the beginning of the song, we were actually about to cry before the song even started. And I think it was – as Danica said – it was just a combination of things. You know, the energy in the room was amazing even before we even started. The song itself, that song means a lot to us. Thinking about our AGT journey in general, the ascent [and] Downside, the good, the bad, the ugly, everything. I think all of that – not just the AGT journey, our career in general. All of these things hit us at once.
With all that going on in their minds, it’s no wonder they were crying throughout and right after the performance!
