Kevin Feige doubles down on Thor Gore: Love Changes and Thunder

Gorr the God Butcher’s first live appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder The division of audiences is due in part to the updated appearance of the character. Although he was still an alien from a planet where his race was extinct, Gore did not have his flowing tendrils or a noseless face. Nor did he wear his distinctive black headdress while roaming the universe and slaying any god he came across. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige doubled down on the update, saying they need to make it so Christian Bale isn’t lost in makeup or CGI.

The producer said in a behind-the-scenes shot Thor: Love and Thunder Documentary on Disney + (via direct). “But had we done that exact translation, we would have completely lost Christian. So we made the decision early on that we didn’t want him to be an action-captured character. There are incredible ways to do that, but with this particular actor in this particular character, Taika really believed, And rightly so, that we can achieve that with makeup.”

We attended a press conference earlier this year where Bale revealed that he had just come off a project that didn’t have accumulated muscle. As such, both the actor and the studio felt that an accurate comedic role could not be achieved in the allotted time.

“I was getting out of a movie where I had to be kind of lacking muscle,” Bell explained at the time. “Then I saw the pictures and thought, ‘Okay, that’s not going to be possible… and this thing that’s going on over there. He looked at comic books like, physically, you know, someone to reckon with. And I said, ‘Well, you know, that wouldn’t be possible in the state I’m in.’

He added, “We literally have three days between finishing one movie and going to Australia for quarantine etc. I usually like to have a lot more time in between, but the pandemic means that things are going that way.”

Taika Waititi, who directed Motorcycle rentalReturn to direct Thor of love and thunder. He also co-wrote the screenplay with Jennifer Kaiten Robinson. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Chris Pratt, Jimmy Alexander, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, and Vin Diesel.

Thor: Love and Thunder It’s now streaming on Disney+ and will be available in a home media release later this month.
