David Harbor has been enjoying a huge improvement in his career in the past few years. Harbor has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise in Black Widow Film, playing the Soviet answer to Captain America, the Red Guardian (also known as Alexei Alanovich Shostakov). Harbor’s Alexi was stealing a specific scene in Black Widow — so much so that Marvel is bringing him back for the upcoming Thunderbolts movie. This movie will see mercenaries and/or criminals like Alexei, Black Widow Florence Beau, and Winter Soldier Sebastian Stan, all brought together by shadowy operator Val (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) for a mission. Thunderbolts will be the big end of Marvel’s Phase 5, and it could mark a major shift in the MCU, potentially opening up a whole new lane for the franchise for Harbor to play. As of this writing, it has also been announced that David Harbor will star in the movie Gran Turismo, based on the successful racing video game series.

If the promise of a bigger Marvel day push isn’t enough, David Harbor still has the much-anticipated (final?) next season of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things on the horizon. Stranger Things 4 was a huge hit, and Harbor certainly starred in its offshoot of the story line. Speaking about the success of Stranger Things, David Harbor admitted he never thought the show would hold it this far — or even last that long:

“I remember when we were filming season one. We were in Atlanta, Netflix gave us a budget of about $20,” Harbor joked to the BBC. one show. Halfway through I remember a hairy person coming to me, like in episode four we were shooting, and she was like, ‘I don’t think it’s going to work. “I thought we wouldn’t get a second season, we would be the first Netflix show of its kind that would never get a second season… We thought no one would watch it, it would be a disaster.”
