Former Teen Vogue Editor Philip Picardy Joins LA LGBT Center

The LGBT Center in Los Angeles has announced the appointment of Philippe Picardie as the organization’s head of marketing and communications.

“I am so excited to join the Los Angeles Gay and Transgender Center at this urgent moment in our community’s history,” Picardie said in a statement Thursday morning. “After working in the media for more than a decade, I have realized how powerful storytelling is as a cultural salve. I am thrilled to take the Centre’s marketing and communications initiatives to new heights.”

Picardie joined as a member of the Center’s executive team, working alongside newly appointed CEO Joe Holendoner, Chief Impact Officer Terra Russell Slavin and Sharon Brown, Chief Financial Officer Ricardo DeLeon, Director of Development Saurabh Bajaj, and Director of Health Dr. Ward Carpenter.

Picardie enters the world of nonprofits with the Los Angeles Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Center after spending much time working in the media industry, serving as Chief Content Officer for Teen Vogue, where he led a content strategy that incorporated politics into the publication’s coverage that increased of the total traffic. He began his media career as a trainee at Teen Vogue before eventually returning to a senior editorial position.

He was later chosen by Condé Nast to oversee Allure’s digital operations, then founded the first LGBTQ + Them publishing house brand. He later oversaw the relaunch of Out Magazine and its rebranding as Editor-in-Chief of the publication. He recently graduated from Harvard Divinity School, where he was part of the inaugural cohort of the Master’s Program in Religion and Public Life.

“We are delighted that Philip is bringing his talents to the center in this new and exciting capacity,” Holendoner said. “I am confident he is the right leader to direct our messages as we continue to embark on a bold new chapter for the organization.”
