Texas busing migrants: Gov. Greg Abbott sends buses to Vice President Kamala Harris’ DC residence after she called border ‘secure’!

Washington, DC — governor. Greg Abbott Two more buses of migrants sent to the nation’s capital on Thursday were disembarked near the residence of Vice President Kamala Harris, in a move that appeared to be a response to her comments earlier this week that the border was “safe”.

The video above is from a previous story.

“We did [send them],” Abbott told KFYO radio station Lubbock. She is the boundary tsar, and we felt that if she had not come down to see the boundary, if the chief [Joe] Biden won’t come down and see the limits, and we’ll make sure they see it for themselves. … and listen, there’s more to where that came from.”

The buses, carrying between 75 and 100 people, according to Fox News, arrived outside the Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C., where Harris and number two Doug Imhoff are staying. Over the weekend, Harris angered conservatives after appearing on NBC’s “Meet the Press” to discuss border safety.

“The borders are secure, but we also have a broken immigration system, especially for the last four years before we got in, and it needs to be fixed,” she told host Chuck Todd.

The immigration policy, which Abbott started as a way to antagonize the White House over his border policies, appears to be on the rise among other GOP governors.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis chartered two immigrants’ planes to Martha’s Vineyard on Wednesday, a move his office said is part of the state’s program to transport recently arrived immigrants to a “safe haven destination,” according to media reports. Arizona also moved immigrants to Washington.

On Martha’s Vineyard, there was confusion on the ground about where the immigrants came from, with some immigrants telling media organizations they had started their journey in San Antonio. But Abbott’s office told The Times he was not involved in the transfer to Massachusetts Island.

Volunteer bus policy, part of Abbott’s policy Lone Star process An initiative to tackle the large number of immigrants arriving at the Texas-Mexico border began with one-way trips to Washington, D.C., in April. Since then, Abbott has expanded the program to include bus rides to other Democratic-run subways, including New York and Chicago. His office says the program has transferred more than 8,000 immigrants. Records show that Texas has spent at least $12 million on flights to date.

As more Republican officials follow Abbott’s rules of the game, Democrats are sounding in cities where the Texas governor has sent immigrants the alarm about how to handle the influx.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who has been embroiled in a public feud with Abbott over immigrant buses, said in a statement Wednesday that the city’s safety net for receiving immigrants is “close to breaking point.” Adams suggested that the city needed to reform how it supported immigrants when they arrived.

“In this new and unexpected reality, as we expect thousands more to arrive each week from now on, the city system is approaching its breaking point,” Adams said. “As a result, the city’s past practices, which never considered bussing thousands of people to New York City, must be reassessed.”

Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser declared a public health emergency last week to deal with immigrants, creating a new government office under the process of coordinating their arrival, which will initially cost $10 million.

And the leaders of those cities have complained that the buses are stifling their city services, particularly because Texans don’t coordinate with them or give them notice when the buses will arrive. Advocates and aid workers who support migrants along the border, meanwhile, He said That Abbott already provides a beneficial service to people by providing free and safe transportation to their final destinations.
